The misty glow of dawn

Just before we went off daylight savings time here, my drive to work was getting pretty well synchronized with sunrise. That made for some pretty nice commutes. On one of those mornings, the wispy morning mist on the Copper Hill golf course caught my eye and I just had to stop to see what I could do with it.

I took these two photos getting some of the detail of what, to me, seemed a particularly lovely fall scene.

Then I took the shots for this panorama to try and capture the whole impression together. Sorry, it's not ideal for a computer screen - you'll need to expand, zoom in, and then scroll to see it all at even reduced (600 pixel high) resolution, and if it's zoomed out enough to see it all on screen, I'm afraid you lose a lot.

It's an understatement to say I was captured by the moment. I could just picture driving the first tee shot of the day and following it into the misty glow of fall color in the light of the rising sun. (Not good thoughts to get you revved up for a busy work day. ;

Then I glanced off to my left and realized something special was happening there too, so i walked a few hundred feet west and took the shots for this panorama.

This isn't a scene I usually see in the morning because it is around a corner and then behind me as I drive, so I found it a special bonus from my golf course stop.

By the time I finished the second pano, the mist had mostly dissipated and the magic moment had faded into a typical gorgeous autumn morning.

Time to hop back in the car and get back on the road to work, but it was a really special ten minutes or so. I hope you enjoyed it too.

Thanks for looking.

DX7590 & TCON 17, Nikon D50 - Critique & Comments always welcome ! ! !

This would have been when comp time kicked in, I got the sticks out of the trunk, and proceeded to enjoy all of what I am seeing. I really enjoy being the first the tee on mornings like this. You managed to get all the color, and the panos are great.

Firstly I can never pass one of your posts. Then when I open them I become transfixed by your photos and commentary. Then I look at the pictures a second time for still better appreciation. All this takes time you know! When are you going on a business trip again? I need the rest.

I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.

Hi there Ed and i bet just by getting out of the car grabbing the cam and shooting those gorgeous scenes.....that you felt really refreshed to start the day................bet you really felt like getting out of work that day and playing chase the little white ball:)

I have to ask--did you make it to work on time? It would be hard to leave all that beauty behind and go inside. All of them are absolutely breathtaking! I love the ones with the pond and barns. I love the fall colors so much! Thank you!

Sunny!

Delightful pictures and commentary, Ed. I think many people would notice the mists but keep on driving. You take the time to bring home the goods and then share with us. Thanks so much!

Thanks for looking at our photo work! If you can't stop next time, then please smile as you go by.INKY

Lovely series Ed, I can imagine the larger versions of the panoramas would look wonderful........excellent lighting imo. You did well to restrict yourself to 10 minutes, I went out yesterday for a 30 min shoot and was gone for 5 hrs. :)

Opportunity is never lost........only taken by others!

Although they wouldn't like it much in my office, I fear. Thanks for looking and for the kind comments.
