I took this with 4900Z. Home made scope (binocular 50mm objective, old gunscope erecting lens and eye piece for long eye relief). Camera is set to macro mode. Would like some comments. :-)

wow - that is impressive. After seeing that I'm giving up shooting the moon!!

Pretty amazing picture with such a set-up. I'd love to see what it looked like. Was there duct-tape involved. Pretty innovative!

Great shot, would love to see some more!

You made me think, cause I have an twenty year old 'air-gun' (no idea what that is called in English, but you get the idea) with a scope on it. But..... that's got a cross hair for aiming, so no good unless you brush that out in each photo. Didn't you have this problem?

Thanks for the comments. I appreciate it. :-)
I'm afraid the scope's far from pretty. Lots of duct-tape involved.

I'm still trying to get better lens configuration so I dont' want to make permanent connections yet.
I really need a bracket of some sort to hold the camera and the scope together.
It focuses by adjusting the objective lens.

The gun scope has been cut in two :-) to get rid of the crosshair and to extend it more.

WOW!!

That is a great shot! Would like to see some other shots with this setup. The moon shot in increadable!
What was the power of the scope you used?

Hmmm... I have a broken pair of binoculars and a scope... Might have to see what I can come up with!!

Wow... really impressive shot. I too am interested in your set up as I am a moon freak. The detail is just extraordinary. What is the power of that scope? I'd love to see more shot.

I haven't taken anymore of the moon pic. It has been cloudy at night.

Here's a bird pic taken in the evening with the sunset light. The bird's about 30ft away.
It'll be very interesting to see what other people come up with :-)
I don't know what the power of the scope is.
I'll have to do some measurement for that.

again thanks for the comments

Here's some comparison shots for those who might be interested.
Top pic is taken with camera fully zoomed in.
Bottom pic is without any zoom.
As you can see the corners are not very clear.
There's also vignetting.
Both pics have been cropped at the same points, so there's no digital zooming.

That is quite an impressive zoom!!! Can I borrow that next month when I go out to CA, would be great for the beach! LOL!!

I think I will be doing some messing around in the comming weeks!
I will be releasing my shutter release in the next week too....

Less power this time, not sure if the quality is any better.

It's quite tricky getting it right, different lighting conditions give different results. I guess i'll just have to keep on experimenting with the lack of scientific equipment. Any comment is appreciated.

Another pic taken while I was a little sober,, lol.

It uses an old Makinon F500 reflector lens. Erecting lens and eyepiece added from the previous scope.
I'm not sure if it's any better.
There's not much shadows to see the craters, except on the right hand side bit.
Would appreciate some comments, suggestions.

Hey Thiha

Is that a Makinon FD lense - I am looking for one for my Canon A1 (yes i know - its ancient!!) - What is the quality like compared to a traditional 500mm lense. There was one on ebay recently which I bid on but the bidding went too high!

Also what innovative method did you use to connect the lense to the camera this time!!

Regards

Darius
