I want to use the Nikon 700 - which I have not yet bought, on a specific tripod attachment - for creating VR images, designed for the Nikon 900s/950. Is the Nikon 700's lense in the same relative location as the more expensive Nikon 900's/950's? From examining photographs of the two cameras it would appear the 700's lense is in the same location as that of that of the 950.--Michael

Read my review, pick reviews from the left hand menu, then click on Nikon 700, go to 3. Body and Design.

If you mean same location relative to the tripod mounting thread, the answer is no. The coolpix 700 has the tripod mount almost directly under the lens within a few millimeters. This is better for panorama shots. The 950 has the tripod mount on the LCD side of the swivel.
