I spent like 6 hours on here last night. WAY to much good info. Just got my D80, SB800, and Nikkor 24-120 IR from local shop. Looking forward to learning from you pros!
welcome. If I could give you just one tip, it would be SHOOT A LOT. Don't be afraid that things will look dumb or anything. if you see a picture you think you might like a little bit, take it! you might find out you love it later

and remember to have fun...but if you're going to learn from the rest of us, then I would suggest 2 things. first, read your manual. This will make you much more useful to the rest of us that are still learning, and give you more insight to your camera and its capabilities. second, be sure to pratice a bunch. shoot as often as you can!!
enjoy your stay

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward to growing in my ability. I'm definitely an amateur, but have a passion for shooting. I think I got a decent set up (so I shouldn't be outgrowing the equipment anytime soon!).
Hey Welcome aboard. I am fairly new here as well. Amazing the amount of information that can be learned,....It's a great tool.
I find it funny whne people say read the manual. To mee it seems like the normal thing to do i actually bought a camera back with a place for my manual... but i agree, take your manual....experiment....
