I am currently in the market for two cameras - one for my 5 yr. old daughter and one for my wife. They previously shared a DX6340, which has finally died.

I am getting a c663, but am unsure of who I should give it to. Would this make a good camera for my daughter? If I give it to her, I would probably try to get my wife a c875.

Since she loved the 6340, do you think my wife would be happy with this camera? I would then try to get my daughter something else - a c533 minimum.

Bill,

I think you are going in the right direction. The C875 has a lot more features I think you wife would enjoy more than your 5yr old.

The C533 would be a good choice for you daughter or the C663. It really depends on how comfortable you feel about her having a digital camera and if she careful with it. The C533 might be your first cholce since it has a smaller LCD, but if that is not an issue, then go with either.

Heck, my 2 year old has claimed my P880 as his and hands me my V603 to use. LOL

Here is testing the Z612

I've used every Kodak digital camera ever made....and that's a lot of cameras.

Cute picture.

I think the direction I go will depend on the prices I can find on the cameras.

My daughter used the 6340 without problems, but my 7590 is too big for her hands.

I guess if I find a good deal on the the c875, my daughter will get the c663, if I don't, I'll probably get her a c533 (or another c663, depending on price), and my wife will get the 663.

Thanks for the input.

Bill,

Val's right on target. We're in the same engineering group here and work on the cameras together. I'm about the only one who's been in the group longer than her...............and she reminds me of that whenever she can.........something about me being old enough to be her Father.................8^)

But Seriously, I agree with Val's assessment - go with the C875 for your wife and the less involved cam (C533) for your little one. They'll both love you for it even more than they already do.

Ok - I settled on the C875 for my wife - she has it and has been using it. I haven't been able to "borrow" it for very long yet, but I do want to try out the panoramas.

For my daughter, I did get a c663. I think she will like it, but she has to wait until Christmas.

Thanks for the info!

Excellent choices Bill. Your daughter should have lots of fun with the 663. And I'm not surprised that you haven't been able to snag the 875 away from your wife much - it's a sweet little machine.
