Baby's Eye Color?

How best in ps to bring out a baby's blue eye color, to make it stand out a bit?

Could try PWL I or II (might want to use a color other than B & W in your brush), or the saturate tool, or an new adjustment layer with hue/sat, etc (could either pre-select the eyes or mask the effect too apply it only to the eyes), etc, etc.

My PS is very light. I'm not sure what is PWL and where to find it.

Select the "magic wand" tool and use it to select the baby's eye colors that you want. Holding down the "Shift" key while clicking will build-up the selection.

Then "CTRL+J" to copy the selection to a new layer.

Then you can use the
Image > Adjust > Hue/Saturation
-- or --
Image > Adjust > Replace Color
dialogues to play with the eye color to your heart's content.

Thanks. Now how do I merge the two layers?

Couple options.

If you're thinking about archiving this, I would save it as a PSD before you merge layers. That way you can go back and re-work the image later without having to reduplicate efforts.

If you want to save it as a JPEG then use File > Save As and then give it a new name like "baby extra blue eyes.jpg" or whatever. Don't save over your original; always keep the original file untouched.

To answer your question though, either
Layers > Merge Visible
or just
CTRL+SHIFT+E

And if you want to save the merging as a new layer on top, then press alt along with the merge layers command.

Hard to say without seeing an image. In choosing a method, I would consider such things as distance from the camera (size of eyes), lighting conditions, and the quality of the image (amount of color information in it or lacking). I think it's a mistake to have cookbook solutions to problems like this.
