Your best shot

Forgot: Postscript on the hornet, it still looks incredibly angry. I would be that brave with a bumble bee if it sat there but not a hornet I think, (That's probably another stereo-type for you!). I fell off a step ladder once photographing a big (English, so teeny weeny, really) house spider. I got it framed up with extention tubes etc went to take the shot and the thing moved. I nearly had a heart attack and tumbled off the ladder in a Buster Keaton typy of way making sure the last thing to land was the camera - on my tummy, so a nice soft landing.

Hi Lepista,

Sorry, but the picture does not show on my pc this way... I tried all this with my web album. Must be a cookie or security settings issue, although it mystifies me why a can't see a picture from my own album this way :-)

Thanks anyway, Stoy

Here is my favorite. Shot in September 2005 during a whale-watch
trip near Alert Bay in British Columbia, Canada. The sun just came
through the clouds and the dolphin jumped about 1,5meter out of the
water. In a reflex I pressed the shutter and I was very happy with
the result.

No - and that's part of why I really like it. She looks really high in the air (and maybe she was), and the surf line tracks my eyes right to her.

thanks for looking.

From which country? In the USA they are nowhere near that red. If you turned up the saturation/levels to make it that red - please pull them down to normal levels again. :)

So many great shots here that it's almost too intimidating to try one! Not sure that it's my best but it was one that surprised me as I took it with the Sigma 70-300 PO DG.

so many great photographs I am so glad I started this looking forward to seeing many more congrats to everyone that has posted so far

day 2 of a 5 day trip around the back of cerro torre, weather just got better and better as did the views. this is looking across to the fitzroy massif from the marconi glacier, cerro torre is just poking through the cloud on the distant right. 350 + sigma 18-200mm, carrying over 20kg, gear had to be the minimum!

This is my personal favorite. However, I'm not sure if it's my "best." Everyone has different photos they think are my best.

Beautiful pics, Andrew. I have always had a strong desire to go there - climbing in my younger days but at least trekking in my later years now.
