F707, Flash portrait

Antoine, can you take another picture of your set up...it's a bit dark to see the way the modifications to the original Shay tech flash enhancer are done... Using a white styrofoam plate is a GREAT idea! Very nice photo, too! Nee (rdavis)
Hi everyone,

This picture was taken with just F707's flash. Some enhances in

OK RDavis, This is how I did.

1) Use the paper binder, It's easy to fold and bend and it doesn't break.

2) Use a shiny styrofoam (It's very light and you can find it any where, any party...) and simply tape it to the binder as shown.

3) But the most important part of the revise is the base that's connected to the camera. I bend the other side of the binder and tape it to the folding cardboard that fit perfect in the flash holder like this,

OK, now with the flexible of the binder, you can adjust the angle of your styrofoam disk very easy.

I took many picture with this setting and found that the colors were more accurate, light spreaded evenly and the best part of it is No Shade!

This is the full size, you can zoom in for more detail.

Good luck and have fun with our invention. Thanks Shay for the great Idea.

I agree with you Christian! It's a great invention. We have to sell the pattern back to Sony and collect some kind of funding so someday and somewhere we might get together for the STF convention!...How do you think!? :))))

Antoine
Great shots, a very natural and smooth lighting - could imho not be
better.

I will try the enhanced Shaytech flash nor for myself - a great
digital accessoire;-)

OK Mike, please click on my started thread and look at the full size you will see the "system" has 2 pieces. One is the bouncer wth a little aluminium foil (You stick this piece under your flash), anothe one is the reflector (this one goes to the cold shoe).

Good luck Mike.

Antoine
OK RDavis, This is how I did.
I, for one, am still having difficulty understanding what you did.
Do you use both the improved Shaytech and the plate together? If
so, how? Also, how do you use the modified Shaytech? Which way does
the window face?

Where is the original thread describing your enhanced Shaytech flash bouncer? I can't locate it... Thanks.

Right, me feeling really stupid now.

We are talking about a 707? I don't see one in your picture, or if it's there it's so dark I can't make it out. Any chance of a really clear, step by step description, maybe even including sizes (a la shay's original post)?

The results look so good, it would be a shame not to try out your set up...

Antoine:

That's not what I had expected, your pointer simply points back the beginning of this thread. I was hoped for a pointer to a much older thread, where the folded flash bouncer was described by someone (yourself perhaps). The one that you are using has a cutout and is wrapped in foil if I recall correctly. Anyway that's what I seek. Thanks in advance.

Hi Wes,

The original bouncer came from Shay and the invention call Shaytech flash. The reflector is the product of Mike Manfields. I just improved it a little bit by using different materials. I tried to put the aluminium foil over the disk but the skin tone came out a little hash. The disk by itself is perfect for a distance about 5 to 6 feet!

Please check one of these posts, I already post new picture of F707 and the Shaytech flash.
