What case you suggest/recomend to fit my need?

I want to carry G2 with lens adapter attached plus 420EX flash, teleconverter, wide angle converter, some filters, mini monopod / table tripod, extra battery and CF cards.

There is some options:

1. Canon Deluxe Gadget Bag 100 EG (9W x 5.25D x 6.5H in)

http://www02.bhphotovideo.com/default.sph/FrameWork.class?FNC=ProductActivator__Aproductlist_html___200008___CAGBD100EG___REG___CatID=0___SID=EBA88DE6DB0

2. Lowepro Nova 1 (7.75W x 4D x 6.5H in)

3. Lowepro Nova 2 (8.5W x 4.25D x 7.75H in)

More details of Lowepro Nova series in :

For basic daily needs, I'm thinking:
1. Lowepro Camera Pocket (8.5W x 4D x 4H in.)

http://www.lowepro.com/pages/bySeries/trekblt.htm#

2. Lowepro Topload Zoom Mini (6W x 4D x 6.5H in.)

Thanks in advance for any suggestion...

Well, all I need is the G2, 420EX, and room for spare battery, 4-AA batteries, G2 remote, and mini-[tri]-monopod:

Is this pod too lightweight to handle the combined weight of G2 and 420EX?

Marc:

Just bought a Samsonite Wordlproof bag, and it fits the following:
  • G2 with tripod mount screwed on
  • 420EX in case
  • 4 Flash Cards
  • Laser pointer
  • Mini table tripod
  • Spare BP511 battery
  • USB Download Cable
  • Flash Manual (Can't fit the G2 Manual)
  • Plastic bag in case it rains!
  • Lens cleaning cloth
  • AA Battery charger with 4 batteries
I still have space for a lensmate + filters.

Its great, and not too bulky.

I got it for $21.99 at Staples!!!!! Go search the bag display next
to the digital camera section. No one in the store knows it exists,
and also dosen't show up in the catalog or web site listings in
Staples!

Here is a link:

I have also heard good things about the D-Res 220 from Lowepro?

Good luck!

I have the Canon Bag referenced in the first note and I like it a lot.

Honestly, a bag's a bag for the most part. Weather resistance is a nice feature (a built in rain cover like Lowepro or flaps that cover the zippers, like Tenba & other brands), but most are made of ballistic nylon with padded adjustable inserts.

Obviously, size & compartmentalization are the considerations, so you might want to head to a camera store with all your stuff & try several "on". At that point, buy the one you like or write down the model # and get it thru mail order (especially if it's expensive, like some of them are!).

Maybe they're nice, but you gotta know you'll pay a LOT extra to have that Canon label on your bag!

I actually went to Best Buy and checked out a lot of bags. I ended up buying the Lowepro Nova 1 for $24.99. I don't have all the accessories I want yet, but I think it will fit them.

A little off the subject, but why do manufacturers put their names so big on camera bags. It is practically an invitation to say "steal me." That is one reason that I would not buy the Canon bag.

I bought and use Lowepro's hip bag that not only can be used around the waist, but can also have a strap added that makes it into an over the shoulder bag. It has enough room for my G2, video camera, digital wallet, a small bag for flash cards, mini tripod, extra tapes etc. I cannot remember what name it is. The hip belt can be hidden when used as a shoulder bag. I use it a lot and it works great.

I've always had similar feelings about cars. Hey, I paid for the truck so why the heck does the tailgate say Toyota. It should have my name. :)

I'm really only half-joking. I don't want my name on my cars, but I do resent the free advertising I'm forced to provide for companies that insist on on this sort of thing.

Is there a zippered pocket on the flap? Also how is the strap? Is it padded?

Right now, I use the Lowepro Nova 1. It fits all my stuff snuggly. Not much room for more.

Inside: G2 with lensmate attached, 420ex, two lens adapters (tele, wide), filters, extra CF card.

Front pocket: Charger.

Side mesh: mini tripod on one side, lens cleaner kit on other.

I had this (Hakuba Mono-10) for a week or so, the monopod leg was easy to extend, but too weak for hiking use. The tripod legs were made of plastic and they started to crack after 2 days of normal use. But I couldn't find any similiar product.

Now I am using a Manfrotto 276JR with ball head, it's not as compact as the Hakuba, but I know it's not going to break for a long long time...

Tony
How do you like that mini-[tri]-monopod?

JW

I am glad to hear that you can fit all that into the Nova 1. I don't have the lensmate or the 420 EX yet, but I plan on buying them and am very glad to hear that the Nova 1 will work. I was just guessing when I bought the bag! : )

The bag should say what model it is. I would like to check it out. Saw a few hip bags on Lowepro's website but did not find one that was dual hip/shoulder.

Flap zipper pocket: video cable and remote.

Back pocket: nothing. Maybe a note pad and pen.

True... so I am kinda interested in Lowepro Linx series, they look just like normal street bags..

This is the Loew bag that I purchased:

It comes with an attachable strap to make it from a belt bag to a shoulder bag.

Yes, there is a zippered mesh pocket. Good for remote, CF cards, etc. It has a padded shoulder strap that is also shaped well to keep it from sliding off. Also has a strap for waist use that can be tucked inside. I like the padding in the bag itself. It seems thicker than some others. All in all, a nice bag for not a lot of money despite the Canon label. I paid $35 at a local Ritz. Regards.
