How disappointed can I be?

I sent my E-100RS for repair last in November, and got it back today. But they didn't do anything about the hotpixels! And I even checked with Olympus before sending it, to be sure if they wanted to repair it.

The only thing that has changed, is a firmware downgrade from V151P-77 to V151P-75, - whatever that is good for?

Why do I always end up getting disappointed with big firms like Canon and Olympus? With my Canon A20 I had to wait 2½months before they could give me a new camera.-- Stig

how much did you pay for the camera?do you have a flash and bracket?

The two questions asked of Stig based on his post don't make any sense to me.

Did you call them back about this? I would insist they
pick up the tab for FedEx overnight to/from the California (less busy from
what people are saying) service center and to do it right.

Odd thing on the firmware downgrade -- check the serial number -- maybe
they sent back someone else's camera?

First, I live in Denmark, so the camera was "repaired" here in Europe.

I called them, because I wasn't very satisfied. So now I have sent an email to a technician, to try to solve the problem with them instead. And to know if they want to repair it at all?

No... it's the right camera. They did downgrade the firmware.

That is really crazy. I thought the latest firmware was 79, mine has 77 and I think it causes some of my focus problems. It sometimes won't lock on focus even in daylight but more so in darker places. My thought was that they sent you a different camera too. I also think you should insist that it be repaired right and all at their expense.

My thought too, is it a different camera.

I have been following some threads on return issues, because I do have to return mine.

I will put a permanent mark on the cam, just in case it is an issue with them sending a refurb.

Well, got some good news (sorta)!

I don't really think the US and EU cameras are different at all. When i bought the E-100RS i recieved a US version - which means NTSC. So we use PAL here in most of Europe, and NTSC and PAL isn't compatible. So I had Black and White pictures on the TV!

Guess what now! The new firmware in my camera is an european firmware, which means my camera is suddenly a PAL-camera.
That means that the latest european firmware is 75.

Anyway, that doesn't help my hotpixelproblem.

They really should go public with those firmware, so it would be possible to download them.

Hi Stig.

I just spoke to my local camera store today to get the cabled remote for the E-100. He called Olympus Denmark and enquired about the RM-CB1. Olympus claimed that it wouldn't work with the E-100. I told him I was sure it worked so he called again and got to speak with the head of the product department. She also claimed that the remote wouldn't work. I had to dig out some information on the internet that he could refer to. Even then she refused that it would work. He then asked her if she could at least look at the camera to make sure she was right. Guess who was wrong.... Another time I called Olympus Denmark to find out where I could get a B-300. They never heard of it.

I got some other information about repairs. It turns out that all cameras of recent date (including the E-100) are sent to Portugal for repair. That might account for the long wait but certainly not for getting an unfixed camera back.

I hope you have better luck if you try again.

That's not what I call great service at all!

I would expect more from a company like Olympus than that. That's quite disappointing that they don't know their own products.

No, Olympus Denmark isn't the ones who failed here but the Portugal division. I too were told that they sent my camera to Portugal.
But anyway, I think that 1½ months is still a very long time!
I hope you have better luck if you try again.
I hope so! And I will try again - If they will repair it. - Else I'm a very disappointed Olympus customer!

Hi, if I were you, I'd contact Ollympus in Japan. It is my opnion, if you push hard enough, in a diplomatic way, you will obtain satisfaction. It would seem that Oly can change the camera format from European to American, or any thing else! They claim it can't be done.
