7 day shop, D200 batteries £16.99 (UK)

Looks good. I've always found 7 Day Shop reliable to deal with and at that bargain price you can afford to try one out.

The only caveat is that it has often been said in this and other forums that with the smart technology Nikon can detect whether your camera has been powered by non-Nikon batteries, and this could potentially invalidate your guarantee. Whether Nikon have ever actually used this excuse to void a guarantee I wouldn't know.

And speaking of smart technology, I wonder if this battery even contains a smart chip, it's not specifically mentioned in the advert?

I'm a big fan of 7dayshop, but I wouldn't use 3rd party batteries. A spare Nikon battery will cost about £25 more than these 3rd party ones (£16.99 plus postage). That's such a small percentage of what I paid for the camera and vertical grip.

just started a thread myself on the same subject...lol.

I've used their en-el3 batteries for my D70 for a couple of years and they've been fine. Can't tell the difference between them and the Nikon original one that came with the camera, so I'll be ordering some of these for sure.

Cheers

Unfortunately you'll notice a huge difference if any of them ever catch fire (as has happened to a batch of Sony laptop batteries recently): with a genuine Nikon battery, Nikon will repair or replace your D200 if required; with an aftermarket battery, Nikon will merely shrug. I can't see the sense in taking that kind of risk for the sake of £25.
