580EX Problem -HELP!

I have a 580EX (2 of them) and one of them will not go into ETTL- It just stays on TTL- I've looked through the manual and cannot find any accidental switch or mode of any kind-

On top of that- it will not fire on a 1D MK2 or 1DS MK2 but will trigger on a 5d, however t feels delayed in its sync and does not expose accurately-

Is this a circuit board issue?

CF 03 is the custom setting which controls E-TTL vs TTL. It should be set to 0, the default.

TTL mode on the 580ex is for backward compatibility with EOS-1 film cameras and will cause erratic behavior on digitals.

Yeah, it was on 0- heres the weird thing- When I switch it to 1 and then back to 0 it will go to ETTL-

But then when I put the flash on the hot shoe of the camera it immediately jumps to TTL- wierd-

The CF03- will stay on 0 even when it jumps to TTL
