i just got this camera, and lately, i'm pressing down the shutter (yes, even past the autofocus pressure). i have to press hard multiple times, and eventually it will shoot, but often with camera shake because i press so many times to get it to work? is this common? is th ere something i can do to fix it, or should i send it to have it fixed?

I wonder if this is an AF issue? A lot of things happen with a full press of the shutter button... auto-focus, exposure, making sure the flash is ready, etc.

I have a DS (not a DL) and there is the option to allow shooting even if flash isn't ready or if focus isn't locked. Maybe this will help? Shooting without focus locked might lead to other problems... but I'd rather delete poor images than have the camera refuse to take the shot in the first place.

Or you could do the smart thing and return it or send it in a get it repaired. The camera should NOT be doing this and fixing it so that the thing goes off even when it isn't focused, flash ready or anything else is just stupid!

Why would this be smart, if there's nothing wrong with the camera? He's not saying there defenitely is something wrong with it. He seems to just be asking if there might be something wrong. He will find out soon enough.

Also, it's not likely to be defective even though there is a slim chance.

Let's start at square one. We can't really analize anything until we know where we're starting. What lens are you using? What mode is the camera set to? What types of pictures are you trying to take, and in what kind of lighting, indoors or outdoors? Give us a few specifics and we'll put our brains to work.

good call. i'm shooting with a m series 50/1.4, and i always shoot on manual (pretty much all that i can do, that or aperture priority). with that being said, i am shooting manual focus as well. the most recent time the shutter wasn't taking the picture is this morning on the ride to work. there was plenty of light outside, and it took awhile before it actually took the picture

it was on af mode, it must had been switched accidently becuase i keep it in my messenger bag. thank you guys!

LOL! Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it's stupid.
