Hey all,

Looking to Shoot Photos for a friends wedding that's going to be held around dusk - to - night on a party ship, and I will be buying D80 for the camera of choice, but just need to know what kind of good lens + flash would i need for this low light event.

Money is not a factor to a point. Figure $1000 for the camera, and how ever much the lens cost + a good flash. Zoom Shots and Distance Shots will be taken.

Thanks for any info.

70-200 F/2.8 VR, and 17-55 F/2.8
Also toss in a 50mm F/1.8 if you need super low light.

That should cover you pretty well, most of the time the 55-70 range and be compensated with just some footwork =)
Those 2 lens are the best you can buy, if money is no factor, about 1400 each.

The 70-200mm VR is a good lens, but hard to find, and you would need something wider for group shots. My Daughter's wedding was in June and the potographer she hired used the 24-120mm VR lens about 95% of the time. While walking around she used a SB-800. In the church for the posed pictures following the ceremony she used four strobes on stands. I didn't really notice if she used the SB-800 to trigger the the strobes; I did notice that the strobes were all plugged into a black box with an aluminum frame on the floor, which had a very impressive array of plugs.

If money isn't real tight I would look at the 24-120mm VR (about $500), and something wider for the group shots like a 18-35mm (also about $500). The 17-35mm F/2.8 is a real winner, but it goes for about $1,500. Figure a little over $300 for the SB-800 flash.

Don't forget a case to carry everything in, some memory cards, one camera battery will probably do you for the wedding, but you might need extra batteries for the flash.

Brooks,

Awsome reply, I will check into those, and see which fits. Money is a object to a point, just want to see what's out there for high$$ and out there for Budget but still Pro.

Thanks for the tip on the Flash.

Thanks
