Hi there,

Does anyone know if there's more than one 350D revision, ie, having the same firmware and stuff, but with little differences inside, for example, improved sensor chip, corrected hardware bugs, etc..?

I post this question because I noticed that my friends camera, bought before mine, has a greater serial number than mines :-)... Does this means that his camera was made after mine, or is there any other logic involved in the construction of the serial number?

Thanks!

I'd assume it's just that one sat around longer than another. How much of a difference in time of purchase and where were they purchased?

I doubt Canon would make any improvements public - then owners of older ones would want free upgrades.

They were bought with a 2 months difference: mine was bought last August, in a Media-Markt store, and my friends one in June, online in Pixmania.

I only asked because I have a "feeling" that my friends camera photos are sharper (both with the kit lenses)... But then again, it can also be just a "feeling"! :-)

Would it be difficult to test both cameras with both lenses under controlled conditions? Then you'd really know.

Surely its more likely that he uses unsharp mask, or handholds a little better (no offence.. but even a teeny bit of camera shake makes a bit of unsharpness.. but no offence if you're actually well good at it.. I'm not to know so just suggesting) or maybe he uses a tripod more? I think the quality of canons is pretty good across the board, although I have seen reports that the quality of the kit lenses can vary..

if you cant be bothered to do a full mega hardcore test, take 2 identical pictures (switch them on a tripod, use the same settings in manual mode) then mix em up and see if you can work out which is which. (the photos, not the cameras!)
