Please help. What is the best way to remidy red-eye in Ph? Thanks for your help, Joe--Joe

being rather new to graphic programs and in particular to PS
this may be a stupid question but in which sub directory do you place
this file so PS will see it and activate it.

Lou
I agree. I have Photoshop 5.0. In one of the threads someone was able to put it into they're 5.0. by clicking some sort of actions icon, but I cannot find it. I have downloaded it fine but cannot get it to activate in my 5.0--carrie

The quickest way to fix red-eye is to select (mask) the red-eye area and desaturate. This fix in not appropriate for large reflections, such as one gets from a dog or cat.

Zoom right in to the eye and make a selection with the lasoo tool, copy and paste it to a layer . then select colour from the layer pallet blending mode , select a soft airbrush then brush over the eye......it will leave the white glint of the eye which is essential. this method rather than desaturating leaves that white glint as it should be.......try it

I suppose there is more than 1 way to fix red-eye but if somebody
makes a filter for this purpose my question was after downloading
where to put it so PS will recognise it ?????????????????????

Lou

In 5.0, you would copy the action to the following folder:

Adobe/Photoshop 5.0/Goodies/Actions

In 6.0, you copy the action to the following folder:
Adobe/Photoshop 6.0/Presets/Photshop Actions

If you need help running the action, send me an email -- I'll help you.

In you your "actions" pallet (in Photoshop) click on the little arrow at the top right, then click on "load action" a box will come up then just look for the file that you stored the action in and double click on it and it will load the action into the pallet, once it's in the pallet click the little arrow next to the description (ie; "Red Eye Removal") and that will open the menu for that particular action, then click on the next box down under the description then at the bottom of the pallet press the play button and the action will take execute.

Carrie:

My copy of 5.0 has become unstable -- gives me an error when I try to open it up. You might try to place it in any photoshop folder, open photoshop, click on the circle with the right facing arrow on the actions toolbar to load the action. When the dialog box opens for you to indicate the location of the action, select the folder that you copied the action to.

Not sure if this will help or not but its worth a try.

Brainstorm ---- if you a windows (not mac) user ----

Try to do a search on your system for actions already installed (start, search, files or folders --- type .atn as the filename --- select your hard drive as the place to look). Once you find the location of the preinstalled actions, use your windows explorer to copy the new action to that location.
