Does anyone have any idea or experience as to the shelf life on SVM-25LS (print paper and ribbon for the dpp-sv55)?

My DDP-SV55 should be here at the end of the week and was shopping around for print ribbons. By buying 10 sets at $11.79 the price becomes over $100 and I can get free shipping, bringing the cost per print down to $.47, but that comes out to 250 prints and it will take me months probably closer to a year to use that many prints, besides there's no telling how long the vendor has held on to them either.
Any help appreciated, Thanks.

Sony print packs have the production date labeled on the carton. The ones I purchased recently are from October and November 2001. If you receive any "antiques" you could request that the vendor exchange them for new ones. What you may never know is the conditions to which the print packs were exposed. I'm not sure how they react to extended periods of heat or cold. One thing is likely, you will probably go through paper faster than you expect!

Sony specifies a shelf life of 2 years. Date of manufacture is stamped on the box.

Cheaper prices could likely bring dated product. Thanks alot for the information Dave. Sounds like a good idea to stick with dependable vendors or better yet just get it at the retail store where you can check the date. I didn't go out on a limb and just ordered one pack from this vendor. If it is good and isn't dated too badly I can go forward from there. Thanks again, the information is truly appreciated.
