F30 spider macro

I'd like some input from others as to what they consider optimal for attempting macros in this sort of light. I find that somewhere in this range works about the best for me. Don't extend the lens...iso400, 5.7a, spot metered, 1/500s. With some slight variations, of course, but I find gettting away from these values will make the camera have trouble even locking focus. Thanks for looking!

Nice macro trachea , you are lucky the little guy didn't leap out and bite your trigger finger........Is that a Wolf Spider?
 
Excellent image! You got great focus and exposure, the web has excellent detail and looks like it would trap a humminbird (well almost)

If there was wind and no doubt their was, the webs eb and flow with just the slightest beeze which is why Im sure you used 1/500 and I agree that will take care of it......otherwise, I would have wanted a lower ISO and shutter speed!

Packy...thanks and I agree....without the lens extended you can
guess how close you have to be to grab the shot. They are beautiful
and creepy at the same time!

Pooch...thanks for the comments and you have guessed right about
the movement of the web....find yourself there shutter half pressed
waiting for the wind to die down just a bit but faster shutter/longer
exposure produced only blurry shots.
