I'd like some input from others as to what they consider optimal for attempting macros in this sort of light. I find that somewhere in this range works about the best for me. Don't extend the lens...iso400, 5.7a, spot metered, 1/500s. With some slight variations, of course, but I find gettting away from these values will make the camera have trouble even locking focus.
