I have been coming to this website for YEARS. I don't post much, just using this site for reference and to find out info on upcoming camera, lens', printers, etc.

Recently it seems that there is more complaing/griping/whining about upcoming/current camera models than posts with actual information.

I am a Canon user, so I will use those forums as examples.

For instance, the G7 wasn't even released yet and already many, many posts about the fact that is doesn't offer RAW anymore. People we saw that in the preview, no need to have 20 threads complaining about it. If you don't like, don't buy the camera! If you go the "Cameras" page and hunt down the G7, you will see people rating the camera bad before it was released! There is also 400D (which I did purchase) how many people are whining about the GRIP, if you don't like it, buy the 30D or D80.

The majority of these whiners, do just that WHINE, they don't even own the camera. Just like to point out what THEY hate about it. Does that make sense?

There is NO "perfect" camera, find one that suits MOST of your needs, BUY it!! Get in the forums, post some pictures, tell us the GREAT things about the camera. DON'T focus on what you hate about it.

If you are tired of whining, griping, complaining in your particular forum...let them you are SICK and TIRED!

From a certain perspective you appear to be doing exactly the thing you're complaining about... whining.

I do agree with you, but I think the best approach is to ignore rather than complain - or risk branding yourself as a "whiner" ;-)

The complainers show an almost universal, though unfounded, belief that the manufacturers are intimately concerned about these forums and will change their manufacturing specifications or marketing decisions based upon the reactions here. It mostly goes back to recent childhoods where if the kiddies whined long enough and loud enough, their parents would give them everything they desired.

Good point......

I guess I don't see how someone else's level of frustration could
get so about the fact that they think a certain camera's grip is
too small.
I couldn't agree more. One forum I've used for years was fairly low volume until recent months, but due to new models (and new owners!) the forum front page often expires in minutes. A lot of this stuff is irritating trivia to me but it clearly isn't to the people who generate it - and they have just as much right as I have to use the forum.

So what would I gain from complaining? Do I even have anything to complain about? The answer is "no" to both - I don't think "I don't like some of the topics being discussed" is a valid complaint on a public forum.

Live and let live, ignore the stuff that annoys you rather than reading it; then it won't annoy you any more :-)
