What to do with my TCON lenses

I bought my E-10 over a year ago when they were first introduced. It totally renewed my interest in photography.

Over time, I acquired the TCON 14B and the TCON 300. Both are great lenses. However, as I realized my first love in photography was always sports, I ended up buying a Nikon D1 and later a Nikon D1h, which are better suited to the task than the E-10. Since then, I have barely ever used the Tcons. I think I used each lens maybe twice.

I don't think I am ready to part with my E-10 yet, as I consider that to be my "fun" camera. It is always the one I take with me when I go to family events or similar functions where I don't want to be burdened with all of my Nikon equipment. My question is would I be better off selling the Tcons now, or should I wait until I am ready to sell the camera and bundle everything together?--Tracy

Tracy,

I would bet you could get more money for the lenses if you sold them separately now. You always end up getting less for things when you bundle them in a package (I think).

I would actually be interested in the 14-B if its in good shape. Email me.

Tracy,

I agree with David and selling the package would command a high price tag as compared to selling the items separetely and therefore probably more difficult to sell. .

I woiuld be interested in the TCON 300. Iif you want to sell it by itself you can email me at [email protected]

Hi Tracy,

Just a word from my own experience. A year ago I tried to sell my Sony S-70 to buy the E-10. I put it up as a package with all the accessories for $950.00 on two Sony Forum boards. Not one offer... I decided to split it up and sold everything separate and wound up getting $1150.00 for everything. I used eBay to sell all the items and had no problems.

Russ, you're too quick with your words. You and David are NOT in agreement. You misread his message. He said a package deal would command less money - you agreed and said it would command more. Goes to show how carefully we read each other's messages!!!!

Peace! baby!

Thank you to Bill and everybody else who responded. I decided to sell the two lenses separately, and I already have found buyers for both!

Isn't it ironic that the people on this forum both helped convince me to buy the E-10 and helped convince me to sell my accessories for it.

Mike,

I really just didn't express myself well. Point I was trying to make is, there are probably more potential buyers for a lower priced camera alone than there are potential buyers of a package at a much higher dollar value. It other words I'm saying it should be easier to unload a camera at $1000 than a camera and lens package at $1500. Does that make sense?

Tracy,

Sell the Shi....stuff now.

The E-10 will be $100 by this summer (well, maybe not that low). The lenses will keep their value though. If anything, sell the E-10 first. Like, right now.

When and if I ever upgrade, even the nice ladies at the local Bingo Event will give me hard stares and frowns if I try to donate my E-10 to them. :-/
