Inconsistent date after download

Date problem after download to WinXP

Today is Oct 11, 2006

EXIF metadata shown Date Picture Taken 10/1/2006 11:18AM

Case 1:
Download from camera using Canon software
Date Modified 10/1/2006 12:18PM

Case 2:
Download from SD-USB adapter using Canon software
Date Modified 10/1/2006 11:18AM

Case 3:
Drag & drop while camera is connected to computer
Date Modified 10/11/2006 current time

For all cases, the Date Picture Taken is unchanged, that is good.

Case 2 is correct.
I understand Case 3 as it is coping files.

Case 1 should have the same Date Modified (equal to Date Picture Taken) since it is downloaded by the same Canon software used in case 2.

Is there some setting in the S3 for this?
Firmware bug?

Sounds like your camera is set to summertime (Daylight Saving in the USA) - basic time plus an hour ?

I've a recollection of having noticed similar effects - very strange results when using some software that sorts by date, as everything taken after 11 p.m. between March and October shows up as having happened the next day!

Thinking some more after I posted that - perhaps it actually happens when Windows itself is in Summer Time, rather than the camera ?
