a wee birdie FZ30 pic

That doesn't look like an American bird. What is it? Nice shot, BTW.

John,

It appears to be the Costa Rican Saperstein finding food and rest in Woop Woop so it may continue the last leg of it's migratory journey to Tasmania.

For those who aren't sure, New Holland is Australia; you know, that nice place at the top of the world. That bird sure looks like a New Holland Honeyeater and according to those who know it's 175 - 180 mm long, that's 7" for the unmetricated in the US. So if you think he fits the bill size wise I'd say you are looking at someones escaped pet. Unfortunately it won't last long once the weather cools and the flowers are gone.

This may be the world's first sighting of "Sapersteinus Costa Ricus!" An actual Harlan bird! LOL, Kirwin, made me belly laugh!

Your avatar looks a lot like a California Towhee. But your closeup is fantastic of the Honey eater. Thanks for clarifying the matter.

saves me wasting precious time NOT to build a 'hide' and invest in khaki safari suit and of course a Pith helmet..Do you go to bed in yours?

All my birds are spotted in the open, and I don't wear any camouflage either, other than my good looks? Maybe I'd fare better if I did wear something deceptive, but hey, I might as well enjoy it anyhow. So dash your stereotypes, Tuesday!
