I recently bought the wcon and tcon lenses for the c-8080.

Sadly, from another post in this forum (BTW thanks for the detailed responses), I have learned that there are no filters for those lenses without custom fabrication. In addition to creative effects, filters help protect the lenses. Some have reported a tendency of those lenses to scratch.

Perhaps a bag which would securely/conveniently hold the lenses as well as the camera would help, but Olympus appears to have never made a custom bag for the C-8080.

Perhaps the C-8080 was ahead of its time and never reached the sales volume that might have motivated Olympus to design custom accessories like filters and bags.

Any recommendations of a bag/glove combination that works well and minimizes space/size?

Olympus makes a small camera pouch for the C-8080. It fits the camera without the battery pack pretty well. I use it when hiking by carrying the camera in the pouch and taking it out of the pouch to shoot. It protects the whole camera when bush wacking and from water, dust and dirt on the trail. Be careful when selecting the camera pouch from Olympus Emporium. They list another bag for the C-5060 and C-7070. The info says it fits with the battery pack on these 2 cameras and it says it also holds the C-8080 with a battey pack, but it's not true. That pouch doesn't fit the C-8080 either way. Look for the one specifically for the C-8080.

I put the two aux. lenses, the WCON and TCON in another small generic camera bag that just fits the two of them with the Oly soft lens pouches in place. I've had it for many years so I can't tell you where to get it.

You could find a generic Tamrac, Lewpro or other brand name camera pouch for either the camera or the two lenses. I once tried to find a more rugged, padded, separate pouch for each of the two auxilliary lenses. There aren't many good choices and the pouches ended up being very big. I prefer the two of them in one smaller camera bag with a padded divider between them. I carry it over my shoulder by the strap when I'm hiking or walking about.
Good luck,
Dave

I have a LowePro Slingshot 100 that I got off of eBay. The seller needed a Slingshot 200 for his gear so I got a new bag at quite a discount.

Currently in my Slingshot I have the following:

Top Pocket:

Olympus FL 40 flash
Gossen Lunasix 3 light meter
Gossen Spot Attachment
4 Rechargeable batteries

Main Compartment:
C-8080 with Lens Hood attached
CLA-8 converter
TCON 14D lens
WCON 08D lens
WhiBal Card
Extra battery

Inside Pocket:
Olympus Remote control
CF card case

Outer Pocket:
Hoya Circular Polarizer
Lumiquest Mini Softbox
2 Cokin Filters

Outer Loops:
Bogen monopod

I highly recommend this bag; as you can see this bag can carry lots of stuff if packed properly. I still have room for an iAudio X5 MP3 player that I use to listen to music when I'm out shooting. The MP3 player has USBTG so I sometimes use it to store pictures when I'm shooting a lot.

Since it is carried on your back it never really get uncomfortable. Check it out here: http://www.lowepro.com/Products/Sling_Bags/Designed_for_Digital/SlingShot_100_AW.aspx

Found mine at adorama.com, even though its a canon namebrand. Oh well, I was in a rush and barely got it in time, but it works great.

In the main compartment i have my 8080, B-HLD30, TCON14D, WCON08D, CLA8, FL-40, and an UW flash housing for my underwater case (separate bag). In the zippered part I have a CP and UV filter, 2x lense cleaning pens, 2x BLM-01, and some other odds and ends. The outer (larger) zippered pocket I have the AC power adapter, USB cord, BCM-01, a ziplock of silica gel dessicants (for the UW housing), and other odds and ends.

I like it because I can put my jacket in the outermost bungie cord wrap, its lightweight, comfortable, and spacious.

Just wish it didn't say Canon on the outside. While travelling I'd imagine its a target for theft, so I've covered it with duct tape before. Maybe I'm just being too cautious...if there is such a thing.

it's a waist pack but not as wide as most, so it sits closer to the body than most, and it comes with a decent shoulder strap.

in mine i keep my 8080, a camcorder, my jobo psd, several filters, a whibal, a small collapsible reflector, extra batteries, the 3 chargers [when travelling---when shooting i take them out], plus several misc things like lens cleaner. a whole lot of stuff in a small space! plus it has straps underneath for a tripod or monopod. really great, tough bag. probably my favorite ever.

i carry a lunch bag,it' well insolated and keeps the potential thieves away as well, and yes,it's very inexpensive

I went the cheap way. I found a plain black backpack (meant for kids to take to school) at the local big box store. It has lots of inside room with compartments (but not padding) and outside pockets for all the things I might ever want to tote along.

Most of the time though I just want to carry the camera and be abe to have it protected even when it is on the neck strap or dropped into any bag. My solution (found from a post on here somewhere) was an OpTech offset case. That one is soft, wraps around the camera, and will allow the attach to the neck strap wthout interferring with it. The one I have is not large enough to accomodate anything attached to the 8080 but other models may. I also have a 3040 with a case that fits it too. Easy to drop into a purse and take on a plane.

I have one too that I picked up for a bargain. I used it for an underwater film camera for several years. That's a smart idea and the insulation is just like padding.

I've used a diaper bag, which is also insulated/padded/cheap, and big enough to carry all the photo equipment in, including a tripod.

With no external photo equipment showing, even a hungry thief isn't tempted to look:)

Carrying for hours is tiring though.

That's funny.

For some reason I kept reading "lunch bag" as "brown" bag until I realized what you really meant.

the Billingham 445.

It holds the c8080, wcon, tcon, an external flash, some filters, a battry grip, 4 batteries and all the CF cards you can afford=)

It also looks very good and makes bringing out the old c8080 feel like an occasion.

For my other cameras I use standard lovepro stuff, but the c8080 deserves better=)
