I am considering buying the 995 and to be honest the only thing that's keeping me is what I've heard about the shutter lag. They say it's really bad!!!! Can anyone who has a coolpix 995 help me out?

Thanks,--Carolina

All digital point & shoot cameras have shutter lag, but it is the auto focus that slows them down.

If you learn to half press the shutter release & pre-focus this is not really a problem.

It's kinda hard to catch a moving toddler this way however!!

Beside the slow shutter lag. The lens is very slow and not suitable for indoor photos. The strongest reason to buy this camera are it's 4x Zoom, wide variety of lens/filters made for this camera and superb micro photos which is one of the best among digital cameras.

I had one for Christmas when Nikon gave a $100 rebate for this camera. The learning curve is steeper than most cameras and I had problem with getting sharp photos. I think its due to camera sensitivity to motion due to its very slow lens.
