I just bought a Sony T10 and I'm not sure what to make of the SteadyShot stabilization feature. I haven't noticed a difference in images taken with the feature on or off. I've taken the exact same photos with the feature on and with it off and fail to see any difference in the images even when viewed at full resolution. This has been in a variety of situations including low light and bright sunlight.

Has anyone else noticed the SteadyShot feature making much of a difference? Am I missing something? Any thoughts or assistance would be appreciated.

I have T30 and it has the same Steady Shot optical image stabilisation, I assume. I did have the same feeling at first, that the stabilisation makes a little if any difference. However, I now know that its effect is only seen on a small margin of shots taken in between 1/15s and maybe 1/8s. The number of sharp shots is greater. Since we pay little attention to a shutter speed on these cameras our expectations are graeter as to what the Steady Shot can realy do and in what situations its effect is most obvious. I still have the original T1 and can tell that the Steady Shot realy makes a difference even if only in a margin of shots.

Try taking a shot of some words on a cereal box, with a slower shutter speed as listed above. I think you might see a difference then. I guess if you have very steady hands, maybe it wouldn't ever make a difference.

Your camera may be defective. The difference is very pronounced in my T9 (older sibling of the T10).

You still need to maintain as steady of a grip as possible. This might help in that regard...

Thanks for the help. I took a series of close-up pictures inside without a flash, just as R2 did, and noticed a pretty significant difference. Other than my questions about the SteadyShot feature I've been real happy with this camera.
