Poll: Would you miss the K10D pop-up flash

If nothing else, it's handy when you need some light and you're not carrying all your gear. I have my camera with me about 95% of the time in a small bag - no room for a flash. The built in is handy when I need a bit of fill, even if it means blocking most of the output with a hand/hat or whatever.

enough to make a filter out of something like a coffee filter to diffuse the direct flash a little.

In a small enough white or light colored room you can also use shiny-sided aluminum foil to make a reflector...gives effect of bounce flash.

I never use it, but it would be a huge mistake for Pentax not to include it. Realistically, Pentax will not be competing against 1 series Canon's and the D2X of Nikon, but against 30Ds, D200s, etc. The market Petnax is relying on wants that convenience; true pros may scoff at it, but if Pentax thinks it can build a body for true pros only, they will seriously damage themselves financially. Sure some pros will use it, but the vast majority of users will be weekend warriors at best; why on earth would Pentax want to give them a reason to choose Canon or Nikon?

The flash will stay, as it should.

Have camera, will travel

So why bother? If it could do wireless trick, it would be different story. Actually I recon on DS it is pretty useless – gutless, produce lots of red eye and very harsh shadow. If it is not wireless capable IMHO rid of it and save money. And pentaprizm housing became look less uglier.

Mmm . . . What is a "popup flash", I don't see one here :-)
Sorry for joking.

If it is gone, i don't mind. Popup flash is not that important for my case.

Although I use a external most of the time when being serious, I think they are great because there are times when I just need a quick shot of something and it is always there.

My wife and sons also uses my camera which I keenly promote, she used my SFX all the time and loved it. And she would not appreciate me buying one a K10D that didn't have one.

... when you don't want to lug extra kit around, and good to use when you don't need the power of an external.

Used mine on the DS yesterday at my sisters wedding (I wasn't the official photog, just doing some candid stuff), and couldn't have managed without it!

No, I would not miss it . I was going to ask the same question myself, LoL . All I see is external hot shoe flashes on top of cameras. So , why put a built in flash that alot of semi-pros/pros wont use ?? I here yah!
I don't know how much it costs to manufacture but if it was not
there then I would think that it should be possible for Pentax to
improve other areas in order to aim the K10D directly at pro users
in terms of performance at almost the same price.

Don't get me wrong. I think Pentax did right aiming the K10D at
advanced users because no one expected the K10D to be offered at
such a competitive price and that leaves Pentax plenty of room to
launch a pro spec'ed K1D and still be competitive. (without
internal flash of course)
