I've been experimenting with HDR photos. I took some shots this afternoon in London (all in the Camden Town/Primrose Hill area). I use a D50 with 18-55 kit lens.

All photos have been HDR processed in Photomatix and the first one was stitched in The Panorama factory.

C & C v. welcome.

Beautiful work, HDR can always bring out some hidden details in an image and add depth in a way. I have done a few with My D80 aswell and I am happy with the way they turned out!

Wow. The first one is stunning!

In the last one the effect is a bit easy to spot along the rooftops, but all in all great work :)

--Great shot! it must been hard, but i think you horizon is a little tilted.

I'm using the Panorama Factory.

The thing is, each stitched image is already a composite of 3 images as a result of the HDR process (done with Photomatix). So that's 3 times as much potential for ghosting!

Wow- these are some of the most interesting examples of what hdr can do that I have seen. I have been wanting to try it for a while but just have not got to it yet. Vry nice.

I can thoroughly, thoroughly recommend Photomatix for HDR. It's really simple, and really effective. Much better than the "Merge to HDR" command in Photoshop.

That's a beautiful shot!

Actually, I took them from Primrose Hill, but it looks like I'm going to have to try Greenwich some time :)

Yep, I used bracketing. I took 3 images at +2 and -2 exposure values. I HDR processed them in Photoshop, and then I stitched them together with Panorama factory ;)

I thought you said you used Photomatix?

Was it the same process for all the images, I would be very interested in knowing a little more about your workflow on each of these, they are all stunning.

Were they all processed from Raw?

Oops - sorry, yep. Photomatix.

I shot in JPEG fine. It was just a quick experiment really, so I didn't bother with Raw. I probably should have done, though, with hindsight.

For the Panorama, I took three exposures using bracketing + - 2 for each angle - Aperture led auto, F11. White balance auto. I then imported them into Photomatix and created the HDRs and then used the tone mapping tool to finish them off (I just fiddled around with the settings - very basic stuff, really). I then imported all the photos into Panorama Factory. Apart from cropping, Photoshop wasn't used at all on the panoramas.

As for the other two shots, both of those consist of 5 exposure values (+ - 1 and + - 2). These were also processed in exactly the same way using Photomatix. I then used unsharp mask in Photoshop for the market one, but I forgot to do so with the tube station!

And that's about it, really. Like I said, they were experiments more than anything else and I'm new to all of this, so I haven't done a huge amount of processing ;)
