Blu Angels were in town today, part of the Fleetweek festivities...I thought some of you would enjoy the images...

Taken from the north side of Golden Gate Bridge...taken with 40-150mm

Hope you liked them...

:-)

Enjoy life... that's what it's about...!!

Nice pics Carlos,

I dig how you used the bridge as elements in the frame. Some really strong comps there, lots of action.

Cool stuff.

PS Don't ya just love it when someone hijacks your thread with lousy pics and leaves no comment. ?

Unusual to see foreground elements incorporated into airshow shots. Good idea. Too bad about the atmospheric conditions. I hope that was haze, not smog. :(

As for JD's photo - I don't see it as an attempt at hijacking the thread Charlie, just residual airshow excitement. The blue Angels can do that for you. :)

Hi Carlos,

Great pictures... my favorite is # 2.

The island in the background is Alcatraz right...?

I shot the Blue Angels the last summer in New York but with out the same results that you have.

Thank you for posting.

Regards.

Marcelo.

Carlos,

very nice pics - where were you? I was down at the piers - great for experiencing the show, but not good for pics....so I took pics of all the zillions of sailors running around town instead....

I've seen the Blue Angels at various shows all over the US - but I have to say the SF shows are the most exciting.... I guess it is all the echoing noise from the foothills and the lack of visibility - so the jets just zoom in and out of vision, always startling and a bit scary....and it helps to have all the noise from the sea lions and flying seagulls and pelicans, too!

The shots were taken form Golden Gate Bridge heights...north end of the bridge...and it gives you this view...

this is how the bridge is seen from here...

and yes I have a Skylight (1A) filter on this kit lens I was using 40-150mm

Glad you enjoy the shots

:-)

I was using the kit lens 40-150mm...mostly at 150mm, and I got here around 2pm...hard to find a place to park, but sat there until 4pm when the show started...

Glad you liked the shots

Carlos

Great Shots, Carlos. I love the scenes of San Francisco as you used them for the backdrop to your shots. Something else this thread brought out, we now know Doreen has a thing for sailors :-).

This is something I am missing - I was in the U-Bahn in Vienna (I believe on Friday) and looked over the shoulder of another person reading a newspaper; there was a large image of jets with SF background - sure enough it was a fleet week. Man, this is so spectacular! I was last year at the European air-show here in Austria - they were quite good, but no blue angels - ah. I believe it was in either August or September, but there were also anual air-shows in Mountain View - do they still do it?

Thanks for sharing Carlos,

Thanks for your comments...

The airshow started with some small aircraft in some kind of competition around the Marina District in the city...I could just see it in the distance, after that we had the Blue Angels performance.

They also had a Bluegrass festival at Pier39 (Fisherman's Wharf), and Fireworks late in the evening...

Today, the Italian comunity is cellebrating Columbus Day and there will be another Blue Angels show...

Beautiful weather except for the hazy conditions...

Thanks for looking...

Carlos
PS.Don't know much about the Mountain View festivities :-(
