My daughter was married two weeks ago. I'm mailing her a set of pictures tomorrow, and just freaked out when I realized we no longer share the same surname.

I didn't take pictures at the wedding, but managed to catch a special one at her home that now adorns my den wall.

It should come as no surprise that the pic is a product of the 85/1.4.

UF you need to stop giving Nikon credit for YOUR good work.

you could have done it with an old 1975 tamron and it would still have the exact emotional effect. NIce shot UF, I would be hanging it up too.

Hi Frank….

You did a really nice job of catching that magic moment for you and your family to cherish for ever….

Now… If you are really concerned about the last name, simple, change your last name to her new one, then it’ll be the same again…… Just kidding… Yeah it usually doesn’t sink in until you have to write it and that’s when it strikes home….

And you are only now getting over the massive hangover from the reception? God UF, I hope you haven't been driving during that time...lol.

How hard is it to let go of your daughter and also the reins on someone else doing the wedding photography. I am torn as to what to do for my next 2 when they get married, but one has asked me to do the posed shots after the wedding and prior to the reception, so that is a happy medium.

Nice shot for your wall to remember the day and also the special moment between father and daughter before she left for the ceremony....a time of mixed emotions, trust and love. It all happens too fast in the last hour.

Smile when you answer the phone, they can hear it in your voice.

I really like this one Frank, Framed and hanging on your wall is exactly where it deserves to be.

You have created a wonderful portrait of your beautiful daughter captured during a special moment .

For those of us that don't have the 85 1.4 it is a lens to lust for.

If I am reading the exif data correctly this was made without flash. Is that correct?

Regards
Darrell

Thanks, Andrew, but honestly, Nikon has created a set of tools that lets me get results that are far better than my skills merit. Every time I pack my camera bag, I realize how fortunate I am to have accumulated such wonderful gear.

It sounds like you've been through it, too, Wally. I think it's one of those unforgettable milestones in life.

Your encouragement and good wishes are heartwarming. Images of loved ones at special moments are treasures, arent they. They mark the important milestones of our lives.

No, I'm just getting over writer's cramp from signing my name to checks :- .

Actually, only the latter bothered me. I was ready to get this girl married. I'm hoping to have a grandkid or two while I'm still young enough to focus my camera. As it is, I'm forced to take pics of other people's kids... and they're not always cooperative.

Yes, the prime photographer was at the house, too, and I took off my flash so I wouldn't interfere with him. I was able to get a shutter speed of 1/200 with the light from the window by opening the lens up to f/2.2, and pumping the iso to 800.

My god! 1977? that's 1 yr before I was born :-)

Very special pic! It proves again how valuable pics are!

It came as a bit of a surprise to me though.

I realise I'm treading on thin ice here as it's obviously a very personal moment for you Frank, but I would have liked to see better focus on the real subject, not just the veil, and the background is full of distracting noise.

I'm just giving my honest opinion here, but other than a nice idea in terms of the pose, this shot really doesn't make me look twice.

you certainly worded that opinion as though you were walking on eggshells! Sad that one needs to do that, don't you think? UF has stated many times now that he is not lookiing for critique but he will gladly accept complements.

Why do you follow Uncle Frank around if you don't care for him or his work?

I have noticed that you pop up in every thread of his

You clearly don't care for him or for the people who do, so why are you here?

are you obsessed with Uncle Frank?

Just curious
