Digital Pinhole

actionshot,

Very nice pictures. I like the 'special' feel to it. I myself heve been working on digital pinhole for a few months now and refined the pinhole itself by drilling a bigger hole in the cap and placing a sheet of black paper with aluminium foil glued to it inside the cap. The pinhole itself is in the foil only which improves the images and strengthens the special feel. I also made a custom build cap with a strongly recessed hole in it to aquire more of a wide angle look which looks even better.

If anyone is interested I can upload some pictures of the caps and images to show what they look like. I must say I do not retouche any of the picture but do sharpen them and imporve on contrast a little.

Enjoy this 'old fashioned' style of photography and the feel it gives (to you and in the pictures). One last word, although I do have a 30d as prime camera for my work I use my trusted 300D to take the pinhole shots.

Very interesting but the images would be so much sharper if you used 'L' needles to make the hole :)

Seriously though, very interesting stuff and I did recently see a website with a guy doing precisely this for the purpose of getting very long exposures and giving ghost town feels to his images, (the long exp means that all the moving parts, people vehicles etc blur into obscurity and the twons and such look deserted, very clever), FWIW, he used initially a body cap with a laser drilled pinhole, (you can buy these from photog suppliers for around $20 - $30 i believe) not seen any on UK sites yet.

Ultimately he wound up using a lens with a Sun filter from a telescope to get the long exp effect and slight sharper images.

A couple of interesting links which I quickly googled

http://www.camerahacker.com/EOS_Pin-Hole_Lens/index.shtml

Unfortunately can't find the one I referred to above which is a sahme as the images were well worth the perusal.

The time-lapse part is the interesting part I think. Just a sample a a few women in the park...

I need to get off my butt and make such pinholes myself. Thus far I've only used temporary pinholes, wrapping my camera sans lens in a sheet of aluminum foil with a pinhole. My sig picture was taken with such a setup.
