1st Client (some nude) C&C Please

hey steve,

nicely done. the single issue that i would suggest to improve the studio shots is to add some light from behind the model. there just doesn't seem to be enough separation from the bg. you could accomplish this with reflectors by bouncing some light back onto her from behind or by placing a small strobe behind her on a low stand.

hagar.

Thanks for the comments. I was using 2 AB400s for most of the shots, from th side or the front (as you've determined) I don't have a 3rd light yet, but I will be experimenting further with the 2 as you suggested...more from the back. Thanks again!

if you want to backlight and you don't have 3 lights, you can simulate a 3-light set-up with a bounce card. use 1 light for the key, one light for the kicker, and a white piece of foam-cor for the fill. it will act like another light, but will never overpower your key, so you'll never have balance issues.

I like the dark background shots. The subject (skins) shows up nicely.

If you like the standard, light everything up then add lights; but my first thought was:

"clever! dark clothes and dark background makes the skin/person show up really nice!"

On another subject, she does not look quite comfortable about the semi-nudes. I was not there to add any constructive criticism on making her 'look' more comfortable, maybe a different smile or a dfferent expression would help. That's only my perception however.

than when you first put the portfolio up a week or so ago!

you have done a great job of culling the duplicates and the less strong images...

Cheers,
Scotty
