If you only had "two" lenses?

17-55/2.8 IS
70-200/4 IS

Because both of them are portable, low light and excellent IQ lenses.

A few with the 10D and 35-350L

I use these two as general and wide angle ones.

I mean for a crop camera, of course, I used their equivalents (namely 17-35 and 28-200)for my film camera. This is the range I need and I am used to.
But unfortunately for low light situations I need one or two more lenses...

I refuse to be badgered into only 2 lenses, 3 is the minimum. In my case:
10-22 for wide angles
24-70 F/2.8 for geneal purpose
70-200 for reach.

Either you have a very speicific type of shooting in mind or you are going to go for two zooms that attempt to cover a wide range. For me I need something in a telephoto but the wide end is not as big a deal (based on what I shoot) so...

If going for money not an option...
24-70 f2.8
70-200 f2.8 IS

But more realisticaly...
70-300 IS
17-55 f2.8 IS

that's what i use on a 1.3 crop and it's perfect. if i shot full-frame then i might be tempted to replace the 16-35 with a 24-70.

come on!

50mm/f1.4 (or the new 50mm/f1.2 if someone would buy it for me :-)
24-105L IS on the 400D XTi.

I presently own these two.

That's the two I started with. Later I added the 180mm macro then the 300mm F2.8 and the two Canon TCs.
