R series in your hometown

Really like those pics!

I've just realized that I seem to be easier to please when pics have water in them... Being an engineer, this may be because I subconciously appreciate the symmetry created by reflections? I don't know...

Anyway, you have a lot of water here ;-D, and great reflection of light and dark areas, good contrasts - as I said, I simply like it!

Regards,

Asbjørn

Really nice and colourful pictures from a place as far away from Bergen as is possible to get (without the collaboration of NASA)!

Btw - you added Asia to the continent-list - towns from Europe, North America and Oceania has been represented in earlier posts... Anybody who knows someone in Africa or South America with a R-series ;-D? I guess Antarctica should be excluded since there are no towns there...

Keep posting, everyone - it's really interresting and inspiring to see the hometowns of Ricoh owners around the globe through their lenses!

Regards,

Asbjørn

I'm not bored! I realy like your town and your photos :-)

The wettest in Europe??? Are you sure, I had that feeling in several other around Europe... ;-)

happytraveler, I also like them very much. The first one is great, but I got curious abou that round surface on the second... It seems a place to explore, I'm sure I would shoot it until exaustion ;-)

BTW, I search these on your Flickr page to leave a comment but didn't found them... so I'll leave it in another, you have some very good that deserve to be on the best R series thread ;-)

Great photos Leche, Where are these shots taken? I feel like such a "newbie" with my town. We were only settled about 1870 or so, new in comparison to the buildings and history you all are posting.

I am an castle fanatic, so if any of you have castles that I might "see" thru your eyes!! hint, hint,
It is so great for everyone to embrace this thread.

We really have represented so many parts of the world. I think it is really cool!

Here's one from my favorite picture place. It is a wetlands marsh in the middle of the city called Heron Haven

This is a great blue Heron (the one whot he park is named after) who obviously got lost years ago and decided he liked having his own little kingdom in Omaha. The pic is a little fuzzy I was using digital zoom to be able to get the pic.

Going to Missouri this weekend, Hope to get some great pics to share from there. It is very different than where I live.

Thanks for the positive comments Letting0.
My 'hometown' is Dublin, another contender for one of the wettest.
Did you not recognise the Gaelic on the buses?

My town has about 1,000 years of a headstart on yours, but its not all still there.

Here are a few Dublin Castle shots. I will get some more. We also have many old churches and cathedrals. I'll put up a few of them later.

Just then I never saw your image, LG. I variously get "timed out" messages or nothing happens.

This ties in with upload problems and viewing problems I'm having with Image Shack. They have a nice setup, but may be hopelessly overloaded.

As for a test, here's a very rough panorama stitch of Darling Harbour area in Sydney, similar to my previous shots above. I put the semi-colon after the link so it will only appear when you click on the link. I hope. It's 1455x510 and 163kb.

Depending on your browser, you may have to click "+" on the image to get to full size that I uploaded.

The quick and dirty stitch was done with Autostitch at....

http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~mbrown/autostitch/autostitch.html and is uncropped and with my exposure difference errors appearing. Just an experiment.

Thanks for sharing the pics of all those impressive buildings in Dublin. I've wished to visit Dublin a few years now, but unfortunately I've not been able to so far - your pics makes me regret that!

Maybe I'll visit a "Irish pub" here in Bergen (they can be found practically all over the world!) this weekend to get over it...;-D

Cheers,

Asbjørn

Lovely Guy. I couldn't see it yesterday, but it downloads fine now.

Autostitch looks interesting, and seems to cope with what must have been differing exposures well. I've not tried to stitch a pano shot yet, but I'll have a go. There's nothing to lose.

Great to see Darling Harbour again, and the R3 has coped with the bright light beautifully.

happytraveller.

Here some pics from last saterday with nice aftersomer weather in the neighbourhood of my small place.
Make the pics with the R4 at the small riverplace Vreeland.
Near (30km from) Amsterdam and (10km from) Hilversum.
Greetings from Holland.

Brian, another great picture. Brisbane looks like a beautiful places.

Noordholland, What a lovely place you live in. I have a probably stupid question, but I am going to ask it anyway. Are there a lot of windmills where you live? Do they have a purpose? We have windmills here( don't look anything like yours though) but ours are used for generating electricity. They are lovely and what a great thing to make a photographic study of.
Thanks for posting more pics, both of you. Makes me want to book a vacation!

We have also windmills used for generating electricity, but that are no this.

This they used some years ago for as waterpump(drainage) and also for
flour. Some of the mills are still used. Some places standing more than one
(Kinderdijk). Nice to see when they are working.
I shall try to find a photo of that please. It is not my photo.

You can see more and better at http://www.stichting-kinderdijk.nl , there is also an English site, enjoy You.
