Had the opportunity to drop by 2 shops today.

One is a well known camera shop that stock all the brands. They have different showcase displays for the different brands. Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Canon, etc. Interestingly enough, the area allocated to Sony still had the A100 on display but all the Sony T10s (all different colours) that were next to it were removed. Making way for the T50 perhaps?

Visited one of the Sony Square (which is franchise operated) outlets. It so happens that in the same building, they have 2 outlets (one focuses on cameras and video cameras, the other carries everything including the handphones and A/V products), both carrying Sony's camera range. Guess what? All the display/demo A100s were removed. Something special coming?

Again, really, pure speculation....

I wouldn't think Sony would replace the A100 already nor do I think that they need to. I do think Sony needs to come out with a higher-end camera soon if they want to hang onto the exising KM base.

based on David's Photokina comments posted recently after talking to Sony reps.. maybe they sold them... He says Sony has sold better than expected both cameras and lenses

I am just hoping the space was cleared to surprise us with further expansion to the Alpha system. Whether it is lenses, accessories or a new body. The only package the Sony Square was highlighting was the body with 1 kit lens package but no actual camera or lens on display. Display case only had boxes which may or may not been empty.

Then again all this 'movement' could just be coincidence that it happened during the Photokina period.

Still curious how Sony is utilising the KM camera division's assets in Singapore. At least I know, probably due in part to its presence here, I had no problem getting my film cameras repaired as recent as last month.

I mention this only because Canon and Nikon who have their own marketing and distribution offices here and get their products out in the market pretty fast.
