Today my camera and I went for a walk and looked at my world thru eyes that I hope you will like. I love this camera. It was my first time locking into 64 iso. I am not sure I like it as much as 100. I like the fine grain noise that you get with 100. But I did like the almost surreal quality that I got with the colors. (used the natural setting and think it came out more vivid than vivid does, and the cloudy wb, which I prefer) other than resizing, and a little sharpening, no pp.

Here are just a few of the 200 I took. I can't wait to see what everyone else's hometowns look like.

oh, and I discovered that the landscape setting helps keep the skies from blowing out, Pic one was on normal shot, the rest on landscape, made a difference. I did quite a few comparison shots and all of them on landscape came out with better skies.

Nice work, my favourite is the 3rd one, but I am troubled by the half street lamp to the left, thinking it would be good if you could include that somehow making it look as tall as the building or interacting with the distant buildings.

From Brisbane, this is all I have from recently.

If you look way into the distance in the first image, to the right of the buildings, beneath the white roof frame, you will just make out the image of the old customs house shown in the second image here.

Brisbane River

Old Customs House

Story Bridge

Interestingly, as Lettingg0 has noted, the shape of the flowers mimicks the shape of the bridge. I had not noticed that previously.

Yes, Landscape works best for this.
But don't forget you have no control over ISO in this mode.

I do such shots mostly with center weight or spot metering and very rarely use modes.

A tele view from Darling Harbour with Sydney Harbour Bridge in background.

Darling Harbour area again, looking to west side of city with replica of Captain Cook's Endeavour (he was 1st to claim Oz for England).

In a Darling Harbour park.

All are my wife's R3 shots back in April. I just can't get it back from her.

Regards.............. Guy

This is a GR-D shot

This is a R4 shot from yesterday - very windy - seas rough 100kmh winds and bushfires 500 km south. Full optical zoom and cropped.

Must take some more pictures of the town :)

If it doesn't come up right this time I am going to die of embarrassment - the image I think I am uploading is not the one that "is happening".

There doesn't seemto be a way to edit or delete "accidents".

Tom, its possible to preview and edit before posting, check the buttons below the message window.

Quite interesting to compare a GRD and a R4 image, thanks. By the rest, great pictures from a very interesting place...

LG, another great thread, thanks!

I love to see and know new places around the world, I’m always looking for new places to visit ;-)

I like your photos very much, in this set my favourites the the 2nd and the 3rd, that rainbow and that contrast between old and new, big and small, are well done.

Could you tell the name of the city, I remember to read it once, but forgot and cannot find it again, sorry.

Brian and Guy, I don’t know when I will be able to visit Australia, probably when I retired because I prefer to do it on spring or summer time, and my vacations period are on your winter time… but your photos make me dream about that trip, thanks.

Guy, I’m sorry that my wife don’t do the same as yours, it would be a great excuse for me to buy a new camera… ;-)

Well, and I have some photos to share too, from Almada, a city on the south side of the Tejo river, a peripheral city of Lisbon. No big buildings, no big parks, some naval industry and urban disorganization, but still my hometown and the best sight of Lisbon. If you come to Lisbon you must go to Almada and the Cristo-Rei monument to see the best Lisbon.

And from the opposite side, a view from Lisbon, with Alfama in the foreground, the 25 Abril bridge and the Cristo-Rei monument. Almada was built behind the cliff.

But the best for me is this beach, Costa da Caparica.

Sydney and boats in Darling Harbour area.

Just another old ship figurehead and Endeavour and Sydney.

Again these are Lyn's R3 shots.

We must get into the city again for more photos. Just got my 11-22mm lens for my Olympus DSLR so there's an excuse.
Regards.............. Guy

Thanks Rui - can only think that for some reason the copy command was not making a new copy as I had thought - have learned my lesson and will use the preview function in future - thanks for your assistance.

Must try some pictures of places other than the beach :) Have plenty of them but they are not taken by Ricoh cameras.
