Hi, i would like to purchase the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM for use in combination with my 350d. I would like to see some sample pics with that combination. Also what you think of it. Thanks in advance.

The third is just wow, really nicely done, I love it :) I have a few shots in my database, but they were made with a 20D. The 20D and the 350D are not that different, so you could get a good impression of the capabilities of the lens.

Fullsizes are available.

I own the 1.8 version, but I think that if this one get's broken I'd get the 50/1.4 though. The bokeh is just somewhat better and it marginally sharper that the 1.8 from 2.2 on. Below that the 1.4 wins by miles, especially when you consider the contrast. :)

Actually I own one and I absolutly love it. Although the 50/1.4 could get you a somewhat smaller DOF, shooting macro's is just plain fun.

Some of my shots, fullsizes are available.
Pbase has some rather nice examples here:

Also the bokeh of this little fellow is great, while the sharpness and contrast are generally superb. I wouldn't trade it in the world, but realize that it's not a substitute for the 50/1.4 in general, it depends on the use of the lens.

Very nice shots. I really really like the third shot in the lens review site quite a bit.

And that is a site I had not seen before.

Thanks

Thanks for the replys, those are briliant. Did you do a lot off pp
on them?
yes a little pp but lighting was more important.

pic 1 : 580ex in shot-through white unbrella + 2x430ex with colored gels for bg
pic 2 : natural light (sunset), desaturation in pp.
pic 3 : 580ex in shot-through white unbrella
pic 1-2-3 : pp = skin smothering + eye whitening.
pic 4 : gold reflector (no pp except resize/sharpen for web)
pic 5-6 nothing special

+ I probably enhanced the contrasts on a couple of them...

The 50mm f1.4 is my favorite lens, sice I have it, I don't use my 17-55IS... i'm about to sell it. (the 17-55 is twice the price as the 50mm1.4)

Thank you for your effort to explain what you did. I guess i will not be able to take that a good pics with that lens because i'm am not experienced enough. Still i wil buy that lens seeing what it can do, along with the sigma macro 150 mm 2.8 , the 580 ex speedlight and the remote control. I know what i'm working for :-).

thanks again.
