Hi. I just bought the 350XT. I can still return it and change for the 400. it would be around 250$ more then the 350. I realy don't know what to think. I am not a pro and shoot mostly planes
If someone could help me, I would realy appreciate.
Thanks in advance

I have had the 400D over two weeks and taken nearly 2500 shots. For me the new camera is a huge improvement over the 350D, especially when it comes to AF. I am also able to crop my photos more thanks to the 10MP.

I will not be using the 350D again!

I would think the biggest reason I want the 400(currently have 300) is to get the precision af for 2.8 or faster lenses(currently have a 50 1.4 which is hit and miss with 300(also planning on 135f2 someday)). So it would depend somewhat on what lenses you have or plan to get. Although, 250 bucks for the bigger screen, extra mp's, etc., I would probably trade up anyways.

Here's my view: I do not have the 350D, so I can not make a direct comparison. I upgraded to 400D from the 300D. I think that if I already (emphasis on "already") owned 350D, I would have not upgraded to 400D. I usually don't upgrade anything electronic to the immediately following generation: the benefits are rarely worth the whole price of an object. In the case of 300D, on the contrary, the 400D benefits were large, so I upgraded. From what I can understand, you did not own 350D previously, you just bought it, and would be still in time to return it for the 400D. In which case I'd say "do it". I mention just one thing about the 400D and that is the huge LCD display. Going out and photograph with it, it's a photographer's orgasm. Pure and simple.

Compared to the 350, the 400 has faster and more accurate AF, more MP for cropping, bigger buffer for those burst shots of airplanes passing by, etc.

Well worth the extra $$

whats really weird is when the xti first came out a week or two ago, we had a few users say there were no differences in photo quality to them . I wondered why the big difference in opinon. Some say they see little difference in extra 2 million pixels. Ok auto focus is better which is good and other improvements. like sensor cleaning.

i would go for the 350D..

ok the 400D has a larger screen but allot of people dont use it allot.. and well its not like your going to see movies on it. and btw a larger screen = less battery live...

the only point i mean really the only point i find to take the 400D is the 9AF.. but for me i'm not a very rich guy and im not gonne buy expensive lensens.. so 7AF is good enough for me :-) and i'll "save" 250$ that i can spend on a reverse macro adapter, or battery and faster CF card...

mean when my father bought the 350D the site of canon said.. faster and sharper pics and blabla... now the 400D comes out and well again Faster en sharper pics and blabla.. so.. yeah the 400D is better then the 350D.. but I think the update to a 350D from a 300D is huger then a 350D to a 400D.. especially for 250$ more :s

More I read, more i see that the differences (350 to 400) are the data screen, AF, the cleaning sensor and you can crop a little bit more with the extra pixels. Is it worth the extra 250$ Not sure. Maybe the next generation will include an IS in the camera? That for sure would be worth the upgrade for me.

i dont think its worth is...

even the sensor cleaning doenst work a 100%... u still have to blow the body out.. and ive read on this forum somewhere its harder to do on the 400D then on the 350D...

anyway im going and staying for the 350D maybe the 450D :D is worth it to me ;-)
