Excellent Delta Intl Experience

I've used B&H almost exclusively and have been very happy with them - almost everything arrived promptly, was well-packed and in good shape. Of course, being as big as they are I never counted on their telephone people for anything other than taking the order.

I decided to order a 70-200 2.8L - B&H was completely out of stock - both U.S. and grey. Decided after hearing so much on this forum to try Canoga - also out of stock. So I called Delta International. I talked to Anna and she was incredibly helpful - even to the point of walking out to their warehouse to pick up and look at the lens box for some questions that I had - she did all of that during the one call. I ordered the lens from her at 4:30 p.m. yesterday and had it at my office in FL by 10:30 this morning. That she would take the time to make sure I had the info I wanted, without making it up off the top of her head, was impressive, to say the least. The box she picked up was the one I got - it very obviously had never been opened (she didn't have to in order to answer my questions).

I have nothing but the highest respect for B&H but I don't think that they're set up to provide that kind of customer service over the phone. While I'll almost certainly buy from them again, I won't hesitate to buy from - or highly recommend Delta International. This is my first grey market item, but I'm no longer overly concerned about that.

BTW - I decided to post this because information on equipment sources is highly relevant - especially to this group who seems to be endlessly buying stuff...

You are certainly preaching to the choir here Mitch. And the choir keeps growing. Anna is a sweetheart as are Betty and Sara. Hard to go wrong. Enjoy. That is a sweet lens.......

I priced the D30 with them today but they were not offering the 1 gig drive from canon like some other places that are (thru 1/31/2001). Even some ebay dealers have extended the drive offer plus 1 extra year warranty from canon for no extra cost. Total $2270. Just for info not trying to pick on Delta international.

Delta sells "grey" items, hence canon doenst offer the microdrive, free battery. Some companies offer packages withthe extended warranty (usually from 3rd parties). Its all in what you want to spend. I just picked up a 100-400l IS from Delta and it was here as they said unopened. I would buy from them again.

Anna also helped me out with a recent purchase, and made two trips to the warehouse to answer questions I had. She then called me back twice to let me know a lens they were expecting was delayed just a day or two. She's a real peach.

What more can you ask for: great service, very good prices (if you don't mind gray) and reliable delivery. I'm sure they'll hear from me again for the 16-35mm when they get it.
