Just wanted to introduce myself. After many years of SLR, then rangefinders, I jumped into the world of DSLR. Picked it up in San Francisco (the only place i could find one) a few days ago. Opted for the Nikkor 18-55 3.5 Still getting aquainted with it. Looks like lots of fun. Bought the 1G Panasonic card they had but with the research I've done here, will be ordering that off brand 4G. Learning lots on this forum. Thanks in advance for all the info. Rob

Go slowly on your lens purchases. Better to buy the best lens you can afford.

Is that18-20 VR worth the $700 or so to get it? I was thinking of getting the D80 body plus possibly that lens.
You did mean 18-200, right? :-)

Many people must think so - it's very difficult to find, particularly for $700.

D80 with the nice useable high ISO with the 18-200 vr lens is definitely worth it.

The 18-200 cost me $750 from BH and it is my main lens on the D80. The 50 1.4 and 105 vr come out only for specific situations. I am selling my 18-70 since it doesn't get used once the 18-200 vr arrived. I just ordered the Tokina 28-70 2.8 to try out the bokeh.
