Can someone explain photographically . . .

When photographing 2 people who want to be in shot... they lean in. Buildings do the same thing, they want to be in shot too.
 
fisheye lens has a large curvature that gives a wider view and a short focal length. The picture is foreshortened in the middle with spherical warping towards the periphery.

That's the best I can do on word quantity! Geesh! Trying to limit a woman to 20 words or less.....especially when she is explaining something to a man! Tee hee!

It's just the extreme gravity of being photographed by an eminent individual like you that does it.

Basically it happens because the CCD plane is not parallel with the vertical sides of the building.
 
Well I guess I'll throw in an actual answer, but it takes 23 words...

Perspective projection distortion occurs when the film/sensor plane is not parallel to lines that are desired to be parallel in the photo.
