The K10D brochure already stated that the DA* series will be weather sealed. The lenses are sealed, and the K10D is sealed... but I do wonder if they have a seal for the connection between body and lens. They'd be daft not to, but I haven't seen one or checked.

Nice that they work with older cameras. The 60-250 looks way bigger than I was expecting though (or maybe the other two are just smaller?).

if a lot of current 16-45/F4 owners will dump their lens and upgrade to 16-50/2.8? That means I can pick up a used 16-45 for cheap or use the money I saved up for 16-45 towards the DA* 16-50/2.8 fund :)

I'm looking forward to the 60-250mm one. Richard Day mentioned this one some time ago and I am pleased to see it finally on Pentax's website. Good thing that the K10D is not that expensive, it will help me towards this nice zoom.

The other ones have been in the roadmap before. Still interesting!

Good to see Pentax producing new lenses as well

A happy
Mike

I imagine they will be. They don't have any weathersealed lenses,
and there is little point in a weathersealed body without the
lenses.
I would hope so, but the press release does not mention it, just the HSM, to be truthful I'm more interested in the sealing than the HSM.
Wonder what the 60-250 will run? Dang its purty!!
It sure is! I'm drooling already.

Looking at current prices for * lens, I'd bet for all 3 of them, it can easily cost you at least $5k.

Thanks for the interesting info. So they changed the DFA 60-250 to a DA* 60-250...

And I found this info on the same newspage:

Product name : " PENTAX 645 Digital " (tentative name)
  • The number 18M of effective pixels (Mega) pixel
  • ペンタックス 645AF mount adoption
  • From the past smc PENTAX 645 lens installing possibility
  • Sale timewise undecided
It is the plan that this product, in the future, modifies the image pickup element, raises the number of effective pixels in 30M pixel class.

Good things come to those who wait....I know, we've been waiting long enough as it is.
