Very nice shot Mike. As a fellow Michiganian I am familiar with the area. Nice composition. How about some of the technical details?--Mike BauerThis cabin is located about 10 miles East of Petoskey, MI. I've
photographed it at various times of the year and in dozens of
different compositions. I love photographing old cabins and this
has long been my favorite. Constructive comments always welcome.

I have always resisted the term "Michigander"! I have spent a lot of time in Ontario, where are you from?--Mike Baueryou're from Michigan..... 'cause then you'd be a "Michigander".....
really....
but just kidding though.... i live in the detroit area, but i've
only been in the area for a couple of years.... originally from
northern ontario.... where cabins like that are also found (deep in
the woods though.... we do have modern town and cities up there...
;-)
cheers

--Mike FlahertyI like it. The shot I mean, not sure about the cabin. Makes you
want to know more: is the cabin nestled deep in the woods, or is it
on the side of the road next to a 7-11? Does someone live there?
What would it look like from a bird's view?
Re technicalities, the (possibly inaccurate) presentation on my
office notebook loooks a little burnt out in places, especially the
roofline which seems indistinguishable from the hillside behind. If
that's so you could try adding a duplicate layer, desaturating and
inverting to turn it into a negative, some gaussian blur and use
multiplier mode at roughly 40%. This decreases contrast and
increases saturation. There was a good description of the method
in, if I recall, DP REview around the middle of last year. If
you're interested in trying it I can email you my own action which
does all of the above.
cheers,
