Has anyone experienced this?

It seems like only one portion of the photo is pixelated(the back top fender).I shot this in raw and it shows in th raw file also.

I haven't seen this before. Since no other part looks this way could it just be the vibration on the fender? Do you have other photos with this pixelation in the same area?

You always seem to see jaggies appear more pronounced when the angle of a line of sharp contrast interacts with the pixel rows "just right". In this case, the angle between that fender and the rows of pixels is optimum to show up as visible jaggies.

I don't think it's anything more mysterious than that.

If it looks odd in the final output, you could try to put a bit of gaussian blur onto the final-sized photo right at that place to smooth it up a bit. But be sure to view things at "actual pixels" (aka 100%) when playing with it since any resizing of the file for viewing will just shift things around so you won't know what you've got.

I don't see it as a problem in the small version that you posted, but then I'm running my monitor at a fairly high resolution, so it probably isn't as apparent to me as it would be if I was running the monitor at a lower res where the individual pixels would appear larger to me.

This looks like Photoshop ACR is adjusted to sharpen too much. Give yourself a try with DPP. I am sure the results will be better.

Nice shot btw! :-)

Funny you asked. I experience the same thing when photographing planes. I mostly shoot aviation as of late, and have found that the picture is great in one area, and in another pixelation occurs. I do not over-sharpen, and still there are areas where 'jaggies' occur. Very strange.

It is all about the moment…
once passed…never retrieved…
once captured…never forgotten.

This IS the essence of photography
