Nikon, you really suck!

So stop whing about Nikon and complain to your vendor, if you really wanted it you could have bought it dyas ago and cancelled your online order.

yes, that is true, unforunately i wasn't as despterate as the others and didn't pre-order the elusive kit which now seems all but gone in the uk. sure, some have it, most don't. doesn't mean its freely avaliable. I'm not whining, I'm doing fine with my current cam. And complaining to my vendor will do nothing; how could it. I'm not complaining, just adding (rahter than bashing) the overall picture & point of this thread.

I cannot believe this! My D80 delivery delayed for 2 more weeks!
Estimated 2nd Oct.

Who knows when Nikon will deliver the camera to stores in Germany.
It looks like Nikon has other priorities than their European
customers. I wouldn´t be surpriced if Nikon will let their EU
customers wait even longer, while the availability in Hong Kong is
plenty and has been for long now.

I´m so angry now that I´m really thinking of cancelling the order
and sell my 2 Nikkors and switch to Pentax. I won´t loose any time
by doing that.

Sam
If you're that impatient...good riddance. Waiting for a good thing is worth it. And the difference between a Pentax and Nikon is worth the wait (not bashing Pentax, which makes fantastic cameras, but a Nikon is unlike any other camera IMHO).

Welcome to the forum. If you'd like to see what one Californian was able to capture with a D50/18-200VR combo (except for a few night pelote shots with the 50mm f1.8) in your neighborhood this summer, please visit my gallery: http://barryphoto.smugmug.com/gallery/1779720

The scenery/architecture is spectacular and the people couldn't have been more friendly. Here's hoping that your D80 arrives very quickly!
Warm regards,
Barry
Ordered mine with kit mid august.
still waiting

kind of compensation was I ordered 18-200 and got it 4 days later
(cdiscount.fr) ! => Coz they only take order when they have stock.
No Queuing. Was lucky enough.

had to cancel D80 + kit order for D80 alone. => Get delayed ever
since (from computeruniverse.net)

Waiting in contemplation of my 18 200 VR wondering what sort of
optical flaw & how many stuck pixels @ the lotery !

No, just kidding, I'm rather confident in Nikon.
well.. I have to be.

I feel your pain mate..! The wait down here in New Zealand was said to be allot longer, so I ordered my D80 from the States and shipped it here, only just received it two days ago and already shot over 2000 images.

My wait was agonizing, but I SUCKED IT UP, and waited till I was alone to sob uncontrollably :=( ~ ~ J/K The wait was well worth it to me, besides even importing it from the US I saved a $1000 or so.

Maybe you should cancel your order and source it from a close neighboring country that can get it to you quickly? Just a thought.

Cheers Mate & Be Strong!

People like you should have gone with Pentax in the first place, I really don't understand why everyone defends his opinion. I waited for my D80 for 3.5 weeks, but never had a thought in my mind to switch to Pentax!

You are hilarious man!

Switch to Pentax and change the Forums as soon as possible!

To be one of the first to get the D80?

Ok...I understand your angst....but I have to say....what were you thinking?!?

When Nikon puts out a camera....unless your like first on the list at a known good distributor...its unlikely you will find it for like about 6 months after release date.

D200 came out in time for christmas last year.....their just now starting to meet demand......and will be months out on truly satisfying that demand...but at least there starting to show up on shelves (but not for long)

Nikons stuff usually is snapped up when new stuff is released....and the frenzy almost always takes a few months to 1/2 a year to die down...

Sorry your in a bind....understand your frustration.....but...in the end...you did it to yourself. : (

So your saying that the D80 sucks so bad that Nikon is having a hard time making enough sucky D80s which is delaying your order??? There must be alot of Idiots buying such as sucky camera. Why dont you go online and find the PDF manual on the D80. This will help the time pass and teach you something

Samuel,

I hope you learn to have patients for your future Pentax as well. Did you read the part in DPreviews preview regarding the K10D new lenses? According to the sepcifications the K10D which says its designed to be compatible with supersonic motor-driven autofocus lenses. Except thoses lenses are not not availible now and are "underdevelopment". Do you actually think they can develop these lenses in the next 2 weeks?

"6. Compatibility with supersonic motor-driven lenses The K10D is designed to be compatible with supersonic motor-driven autofocus lenses (currently under development), which are expected to provide smoother, quieter autofocus operation than conventional lenses."

I stopped into the local Best Buy in this small town of 50,000 in Kentucky...there was a D80. It appears to me that Nikon is doing a fine job of delivering product.

Please consider this-40,000 people will starve to death today and you are lucky to have as your highest priority a brand new camera designed by some of the finest minds in the business/science.

Treasure your excitement. How often are you able to feel this?

Great idea, but I think an 18-200VR Support Group should come first!
