D50 WB are you happy with it ?????

I am thinking of getting a expodisk as i have staeted in other threads

But A$160 + delivery is alot of money so i need to see if i am too critical of the WB in the D50

I have used the presets i have used a grey card .I have even used a pringle lid lol

Am i wanting too much from WB should i settle for the presets or is an expodisk the next step ???

i have ordered the 70-200vr & the 17-55 2.8 which should be here next week i will have a good setup then all i have to do iod pics to ustify them lol warren

before you spend the big bucks on an Expo Disk, try using a lid to a pringles can of potato chips.

Sounds funny, but it should do just fine or just run to the local camera store and buy a grey card for $5 or so.

Wow $160 for the Expodisc? I got mine for like $60.

The Expodisc is awesome in mixed lighting situations. If I am shooting in shade or sun, I'll just shoot in raw and adjust it as necessary.

only failed once, in a restaurant, incandescent lighting if i recall.
I will watch for that next time around.

I use the built-in presets, matching the environment I'm in. I find that works 90% of the time.

Failing that I try Auto and that often works when I haven't correctly matched it manually.

I don't use a grey (or white) card and feel my pics are capturing the colors I've seen in the field.

So in answer to your question, yes I'm totally happy with the WB on my D50.

I have an expocap and I love it.

Shoot Raw, you can always change it later. I took a great photo of my sister, then realized I still had the camera on Incandescent wb. All it takes is one click with Nikon View to change it to what I want. Easy.

Yeah, but when I have 300 photos to process for a client that can be cumbersome. Much easier to get it right the first time.

Cut the bag in half though.. you just need one layer or it's too blue

So true. Nice to have a backup plan though.
