The Samples are up on Canon's website...although I would like to see more utilizing the high ISO functions. Go to Canonusa.com...under the model click Product Info.> Sample Pics...

Let me know what you think! I'm having trouble figuring out my next camera that I am hoping to get for my b-day on the 30th. I still think the 900s pics look better, but not spectacular for 500 dollars

Sorry for asking the question but I thought that's what Forums such as this were all about. Given that a key selling point of the SD800IS is wide-angle on a compact I thought it relevant as Panasonic appear to have the only other wide-angle compacts.

Anyway, I'll retreat to wherever it is that new Forum posters who don't know "the rules" are supposed to reside

I agree here; the wide-angle and IS are the two key points for me.

Agree entirely, for day to day shots wide-angle and IS are more useful features to me than 10MP. I can see where people want the 10MP for poster sized prints, for example, but I won't ever need to do that.

Get used to it.

Skip over what you don't find helpful (stuff that others may find useful) and you'll get the info you want.
