I got this lens yesterday, but can't seem to find any reliable places on the internet to purchase the necessary 62-58 step down ring. If anyone has a good place from which I should purchase, please let me know. In addition, if you know of any offline retailers in Maryland (or DC area) or North Carolina, please let me know. Thanks. Seems like this ring is a prety obscure piece.

Hi Ejoy:

To start with you want a 58mm to 62mm step up adapter. Almost any camera shop should be able to get you one, ther'e only worth about 4 to 5 dollars.

I wouldn't throw a 4 or 5 dollar step up ring on if it were my rig. Spend some time and money-- well worth it. I use a Heliopan-- 34 dollars, and i'm glad i did. Follow some threads on this (search)

Thank you all so much for the advice...I was looking for the wrong thing, but now I am all set. I will look for a high quality solid 58-62 step up ring. Thanks.

Only problem with that link is that B&H is out of the Tiffen version and only have "General Brand" available. I ended up buying mine from Cameta in New York. I bought one of their TCONs on Ebay the other day and asked if they had the step down ring and they did for $19.95. It was a Bower one.

Good luck!

FWIW...I've bought a 'General Brand' step-down ring from B&H (58mm-52mm) and it turned out to be a Bower...

I wouldn't buy a 34 dollar stepping ring... you can get them on Ebay for like 3 dollars... and there isn't a need for a larger investment... a stepping ring is a stepping ring... is a stepping ring. i don't think they can get that one wrong.

Great for you Jason. I still would have had to pay shipping twice if I had bought the step up ring for mine from 58mm to 62mm. So at least this way they arrive together. And I just got the email that Cameta shipped them today via UPS!

The site from which Mike bought his ring also sells Tiffen, B+W and Heliopan. B+W and Heliopan rings are made of brass whereas others are of aluminum (which sometimes may bind). Cost: B+W- $20, Heliopan- $32.
I bought a Kenko 58 - 62mm step up ring from http://www.2filters.com for
my Tcon 14b and it works well. It was about $9. If you order $50
worth of product shipping is free otherwise $4.00

Could someone please post a photo of the TCON-14B and if possible one of the TCON-14B on the 707. Thanks

THANK VERY MUCH, Now a stupid question, Can you use auto focus and all with the TCON-14B installed? if not how easy is it to remove?

not stupid....you know the saying,"the only stupid question is the one you dont ask". yes, auto focus works just fine. screws off in a couple of seconds.
