EN-EL3E Batteries

At least here in the Bay Area, the EN-EL3e batteries were readily avialable locally for $49.95 - at least until last week. I can't tell the situation now. But it really depends on where you are from.

Speed is significant and interesting but accuracy is downright fascinating

Last week i bought a new battery (genuine nikon) from hong kong for $67 usd shipped. That's not too bad considering the shortage. I haven't received it yet, but he has perfect feedback and it looked legit.

I followed the advice on this thread - cameracanada.com has the batteries and just ordered 2. I've had an order at PC Connection for over a month and have been checking B&H for months now. After getting 2 extras at B&H just after picking up my D200 back in feb, I've never seen them avail in the States again.

I find this quite bizarre! The day after I bought my D200 (Jacob's London Bridge) I bought a grip (Greys Westminster) and a battery (Jessops). Greys also has batteries, but I had vouchers for Jessops.

Yes I see they have them, but I refuse to pay 20-30 USD over street prices/internet List is $49.95....Thank you though, buy the time I get them from Canada it will cost me $80 plus $$.. each.
Knock on wood, but this seems to be a U.S. supply thing. Up here
north of the border, I had no trouble buying two this week. My
dealer (www.henrys.com) said that's the first they've heard of any
shortage, and they have a bunch. Same goes with
http://www.cameracanada.com .

I can't make myself pay $100 USD for a $50 battery. That is just wrong, but I guess if you need them you gotta pay now.

I think the bigger question is why is there a shortage from Nikon in the US...? Are they selling that many D200's and why don't they reason that everyone will need more batteries to go with their new camera's??

Oh well :-)
