Dave,

The some people you are referring to has gotten really tiring the last 5 months. The some people has run alot of the good people off -- people that have been on this forum for over a year. The some people has even run off many of the new people that have joined our forum in the last few months.

That some people emailed me awhile back and told me he/she did not like Daniella3rd and suggested that I ignore her -- well, I lost ALL respect for him/her when he/she did that. I am not here to like or dislike anyone, I am here to LEARN...I don't play those kind of games.......Now you see what that kind of behavior has done to this forum.

Oh, BTW, Daniella3rd, I LOVE the pictures you take with your Oly 700...and I am sorry you had to start a new forum elsewhere because of some problems here.

The bumping thing is definitely a new concept.

Same here Dave, I own the 2020 and 2100....who cares....

It's sad isn't it, Dave........

Just to let the new people know, up until 5 months ago (when the other people*joined) this forum was a VERY special place to come and LEARN. It was the PERFECT place for newbies.

When I joined I ONLY received HELP...no criticizim...I was welcomed with opened arms....no one cared what kind of camera you where using...everyone was treated as equals.......we ALL helped each other....

Can we start doing that again...especially for the good of the new people. Let's not let the new ones get into the habit of arguing, like this forum has been doing lately....let's get them into the habit of asking guestions about their cameras - LOTS of guestions because that's what it's ALL about....ASKING and RECEIVING ANSWERS.

Oh, and hey, maybe some of those people that have been turned off by this forum the last five months will come back.

Thank-you...

Bumping up a thread seems to me to be O.K. if you are trying to get a answer on a technical question that has gone unanswered for a period of at least 24 hours.

With the large amounts of posts here it is very easy for a post to be on page 4 in no time flat and missed. This practice is common on technical forums that I frequent.

Bumping a thread to keep it alive after the initial question or point has been made is a annoyance and should be frowned upon.

Just my two cents thank you.

newby....I mean, buzzy, you know I LOVE you! You're the only reason I've stayed this long.....I look forward to reading your posts because you make me smile and you've always come thru when I needed help with something.

Okay, if you promise........

P.S. Just wondering why you changed your name...you might have mentioned it in another thread but I missed it....

Oh, and the first time you changed your name I knew right off it was you and thought it was funny that it took awhile for some people to notice. Like I said, you always make me smile and that was a good one. I was actually laughing out loud!

Debbie,

Thanks for the support for my point of view. I must admit
that when I first saw the title to your thread I thought I
was gonna get clobbered.

As a long-timer here, I remember the time when threads would
take (sometimes) days to make it down to page two. And even
before that when there were no pages, just a single l-o-n-g list
of threads. Those days are gone forever, unfortunately.

My point is that it doesn't have to be like it is now, where the
threads are on page two after only an hour, and after a day
they're on page five. Some of these people that obviously
feel compelled to get their 2 cents in on every thread need to
show some restraint. And to those that feel that "bumping" is
appropriate, remember that every single thread thats "bumped"
up pushes ALL of the other threads down.

I don't know what the solution is, but I hope that one can be
found. This forum has been a great resource in the past and
hopefully it can soon return to its former self.

I for one LIKE when there are a lot of posts == provided they are not designed to bash anyone. When there aren't a lot of posts i am disappointed

I look forward to the information

Sorry, Dave didn't mean to scare you but I wanted to make sure you read my reply to your post. Thought is might get lost in the other tread.

Just curious. How many people know who the person is that Dave and I are referring to when we say other people ...you know the one that Dave referred to in his post as....
Some people have recently posted upwards of 90 times in
a 24 hour period.
And me........
I know there is one person that knows. It's the one that is acting so sweet to everyone here. Well, now you know just how sweet that person can be. The person actually called his/her own self a ***** in the email to me. If I talked that way, maybe I could say that about the person...but the person called their own self that.

The only reason I am even writing this is because I just read a post by this person asking Daniella3rd where she has been, that she has been missed and people that have the Oly 700 could use her help.

Give me a break......poor Daniella3rd doesn't even have a clue all the awful things you told me about this girl, that was new at the time. Actually, until I got the e-mail I didn't know who Daniella3rd was, I had to go back thru the threads to find out who this person was talking about.

Anyway, just thought I would let people know that there's a sweet person in here that is stirring up trouble behind your backs. The person tried to get me sucked in but I wouldn't fall for it.

Too bad we can't turn the clock back to before August 4, 2001. We never had these problems before then. Or at least not as long as I have been in this forum.

I was trying to stay out of this, but Debbie couldn't leave it alone. I feel that I must tell my side of the story.

The message Debbie is referring to was made in a private e-mail message when we were having the 700 vs 2100 discussion about whether IS was necessary or a good thing. Daniella repeatedly told us how steady her hands were. The discussion continued. Something Debbie said made me think she was tired of the same stuff being repeated. I wrote to her suggesting we just ignore Daniella's steady hands messages. In the context of that message, I joked about being a ***** since I was complaining in this email message. If my memory serves me right, Debbie never complained to me that she was offended. She just stored it up to dump on me at this opportune moment for her.

As for my comments to Daniella about having missed her, I was sincerely trying to welcome her back. We have had questions about the C-700 that I thought she was well prepared to answer for new users of that camera. I was trying to be nice. I'm sorry Debbie doubted my sincerity. People actually can change their feelings.

Yes, I joined the forum on August 4th. Guilty of that. It appears she thinks I have single handedly ruined the forum. I think she gives me too much credit. I think the tacky things that have been said by several folks lately have threatened the civility of this forum. Obviously, my posts have irritated her and some others. I seem to remember that not too many days ago many folks around here thanked me for my contributions to the forum when Sandman suggested me for MVP. I would have nominated him or Bob S or some others for that award. It was totally unsolicited. I was never so surprised to find those messages one morning.

Anyway, as a retired person, I have a lot of extra time. The vast majority of my posts are compliments about photos posted, comments telling peope how cute their children are , or trying to help a new user with some question about apertures, flashes, etc. Perhaps I've overdone reacting to so many people's posted photos or questions, but everyone enjoys a compliment on their work I would think.

Anyway, it's time to quit the personal slams and get back to doing what we have done well in the past--helping people with their photography. -- http://www.pbase.com/julivalley/galleries21oo , B-3oo3o4oJuli
