I wanted to get my wife interested in photography. She is not very technical and does not want to learn much about how cameras work. But she likes PINK everything. Pink Blender, Food Processor, Mixer, Toaster, Knives, Cutting Board, Cell Phone and now a Pink Z3 Camera. Well if it's Pink she will use it. These are some of her first photos. Actually, the flowers was one of the very first (the flowers and camera were for her Birthday).

Nice photos, cute daughter. My daughter also just bought the Z3, upgraded from her Z1. The low light shots, and the flash shots are really amazing from such a small camera. BTW my daughter ( she's 19) made the choice herself after seeing the results of all her friends cameras (Different brands). They all like her shots better from the Fuji.
Hope you capture many great memories with the new cam.

Isabel, I am amazed at how my wife works at composing her pictures. I have paid her compliments on what she has already done with this little Pink Beauty. I am surprised at what she is already doing am sure she will enjoy photography for years to come. The photos are of our Grand Daughter (my wife watches her a couple days a week - makes for great subject).

My Wife Thanks those for the great comments.

Did you apply any NR to these?

The iso400 shots seem better than the iso400 shots from the Z2 my wife has.

I noticed the Flash photo was taken at iso800 (the Z2 uses iso640 as its auto flash default and it is far too noisey). The Z3 looks as good/better at iso800 as the Z2 at iso640.

Can you tell me..... Assuming Auto ISO set.

1 ... Does the flash always fire (auto flash) at iso800

2 ... What is the highest iso it will pick if you use it in a dark room with flash OFF.

If the answer to 2 is iso800
3 does it use up to iso1600 in Antiblur and Natural light modes.

Thanks Darin

Hi Bill,

Some nice close-up shots, except for the last one that looks under-exposed. Will be interested to see some out doors and non-closeup shots (outside and inside). The previoous versions have had a bad rap. Let's see how this one does.

Best wishes,

Mike

...and do you know if red-eye reduction was used?

I like my Sony DSC-P150 for this job, but when I gave it to my (non-technical, non-camera capable) wife when she took our toddler to the zoo this weekend, I set to auto, flash auto, etc...she came back with photos taken in P mode with flash suppressed. She said she didn't touch anything, I'm sure it was inadvertent.

So I'll take a look at the controls to see if they're any more wife-proof.

I'm glad your wife is now willing to take shots, it will be great to see all the shots of your child (that you didn't take). Sorry you have to live with pink everything...a small price to pay imho!

Some answers to some questions:

1) All photos taken on full auto (my wife picked the camera up and started taking pictures - that simple).
2) I think the flash went off on all photos (not totally sure if for all).
3) I did use red eye removal in Photoshop (most shots had severe red eye).
4) I also used NeatImage noise reduction on some photos but not all.

As far as shutter speed and ISO, I have no idea (it was on auto). I will look at the EXIF when I get home. As far as when the flash goes off related to high ISO, I have no idea (it seems to be all auto).

Thanks for comments.
